Any reason to keep the GTX Titan?

buy the 2 780ti, give xodius80 the titan for reasearch porpouses.

wrong, 3gb is still enough at 4k, most games sit at around 2gb vram usage at 4k, then there's some that hover around 3gb vram usage at 4k. You really don't need AA at 4k btw, not on a 32" monitor anyway.

 

Thank God someone has some sense on here all I've been reading since the 290/290x's came out is, "3GB just isn't enough 4GB FTW".

 

ok, here's my two cents. PC perspective ran two gtx 680 4gb evga classy's on a seiki 50' 4k tv. Each card in sli was using 3gb per card in battlefield 3 at 4k resolutions. So, keep that titan. When and if you go 4k with that card or cards in sli, you won't regret it in upcoming titles with more beefier system requirements. What I would like to see is someone please do a 4 way 780 ti or titan setup with a 4960x and 64 gb of ram at 4k resolutions in a review. The highest I have seen is on pc gaming's website at 1440p on metro last light with that config. I would love to see how the max power available out there would chew threw something most mid range enthusiast users can't do.

 

Invest in a decent watercooling setup, slap a block on the titan, volt mod it and up the core to around 1250mhz or even more. Then buy another for a cheaper price and do the same. The Titan is an awesome card if you put it under water and volt mod it.

 

The TITAN will be a collectors item in the future, by it's unique name.

 

Just get a 2nd titan. A Ti is 5-7% faster clock for clock, not enough of an improvement to bother. With a decent bios you should be able to run at 1176-1202 on average at 1.21 volts

 

If it's paid for, you might as well keep it.
Unless you can get very close to what you paid for that Titan, it won't be worth it.
What will...and is already happening are owners jumping into the market to sell their cards in an attempt to take advantage of the lower priced 780.
That rush to get rid of them means you can negotiate a bit on another. It'll still be fairly high, but it won't be $1000...probably closer to $700 no tax.
End result: You get the assurance of being able to maintain the 6GB GDDR for not a lot more than two new GTX780s + taxes etc....

 

I would say keep the titans. I game in eyefinity and have to say that 3 gig is the minimum. Ghost/BF4/Dirt Showdown and others are scratching the 3 Gig of RAM in my case (depends on setup and image quality of course). Eyefinity is 3x1920x1080=6220800 pixel, 4k is 25% more (8709120 pixel) so I expect even more RAM requirements for it.

Stay with the Titan no use in wasting a 1,000$ card for one that is not that much faster
