Have you got Turbo enabled? I think you need that Enabled for 21X

    Yeah it's disabled, i guess that's why it won't stick to 21x.

Edit: Didn't worked either, i only have Intel Turbo Boost and Turbo Boost in the memory settings.

And i've noticed that it has a hard time running BF4.
CPU Usage goes up to 80-90%.

@Milojko: HT was actually ON. But you are right, it is a golden chip

@Veteran: it is just just watercooled (run 24/7 for a years @ 4.4Ghz)

I ran a 930 for a good while. I could do 4.4ghz on a swiftech 420 Rad. With alot of juice. I would say that with your setup you could do 4.0-4.2ghz. Depends on how you like to keep your voltage and temps.

You are using GigaByte motherboard, to unlock all (hidden advanced) BIOS features in main BIOS menu hold CRTL and press F1. All GigaByte MBs have had that hidden features years ago. Don't know for newer GigaByte mobos is that still the same (probably it is) but all older non-UEFI graphic BIOS mobos all of them have that CTRL F1 hidden options for advanced users.

OMFG, 4.8GHz HT on i7-920 makes me horny, even with a fact that it is a D0 CPU :)

Ok i got it stable now at 4,01ghz! I used IntelBurnTest on Standard and it said that my OC is fully stable.

I had to crank up the voltage to 1.5 to make it stable, and now when stressing CPU-Z is now saying 1,38-1,4v.

I had to enable Intel Turbo Boost to get 21x multiplier.

It did get pretty hot, 72-81c.

Use cold temperatures and give it a shot (you need D0 revision)

This is my BIOS settings when reached 4.8GHz.

    CPU Ratio Settings....................21
    BCLK Freq................................229
    PCIE freq..................................104
    DRAM (underclockedDDR3).......1368
    UCLK.......................................2736
    QPI Link...................................5472

    CPU Voltage.............................1.52
    CPU PLL Voltage......................1.96
    QPI/DRAM Core Voltage............1.52

    CPU Diff Amplitude....................800mV

    CPU Ratio Setting......................21
    HT Technology...........................Enabled

    To the OP
    Congrats on stable 4GHz.
Just let you know that GPU by default make a voltage drop, so don't wory about those numbers.
You need a decent cooling for that Vcore.

No, I selected 2:8 ratio, that maked stable my 12800 RAM.
You have to find you best mobo/BIOS ratio.

Yeah no worries, im a sucker for dates always have been, sorry man:)

WTF...check the Gigabyte forum and see if similar problem for your mobo, if not make a thread and see what response you get or google your problem regarding your mobo and see what comes up.
I always disable Turbo, its another fluctuation feature just like cstates and speedstep. These can cause instability on x58 when pushing the oc. I have 21multi and i have turbo disabled on this board (POS) and my Rampage 2 Extreme was the same.
So is that stable at 4.8? I have never seen a 920 at 4.8 on any forum unless its on PC or LN and even then the chip would normally usually die because of the amount of volts you need to put through it to hit that kind of oc and be stable. I can see your using 1.52v, is that for boot into windows or can you pass a stability test at 4.8 Ht-on at 1.52?

To see one on standard water is like the second coming of Christ especially with HT-on!! Im intrigued....

What is the difference with PCIE at 104 and at stock 100? How does this affect your cpu oc when its voltage within the PCIE lane thats being changed?
Im asking because ive never used it, so if you can educate me then please do:)

Drop a 100hz and try again with same settings, then rebuild from here.

On a side note this Brandy and coke is ****ing marvellous!:)

It was stable to do all applications and tasks ( Internet, screnshots, Adobe, SuperPi run, Word processing etc) I did not want to kill my chip so after 1 hour decided to downclock @4.4GHz (at 1.32V) and keep that 24/7 for a years.

    [IMG][IMG]

As for PCIE slot freq at 104 - it is set to improve graphic benchmarks not CPU overclock.
Also I had to disable second NIC (mobo had 2 Marvell) in order to gain top overclock.
It was painful process to dig every single BIOS option (no skew) and see how that affect overclock stability.
At the and, judging by your pinpointing questions there is nothing I can educate you.
    Cheers.

Yeah this 930 i have can do 4.4 ht on at 1.43v and its fully stable in Linx, Prime, Occt and IBT. Only reason im at 4.2 now is because my rampage motherboard died about a month ago and i dont have chipset blocks for the motherboard that i have now. I needed 1.43 to make it stable in all tests and i ran that 24/7 for around 3 years.

    Anyhow congrats on the oc.:)

Thanks man but that was almost 4 years ago, and that golden 920 is still running @4.4GHz. Best piece of hardware I ever had.

I give up on this chip, now it won't get stable at low speeds and high voltage.

Going to look for a 930 or better in 2 weeks.

Edit: I can get the i7 950 in the 100-150 euro range.

Get a 930 or 920 d0, the c0 chips are not very good unless you want to run lower than 3.8.
