I use to play bf4 with all eye-candy turned on and 200% resolution to test vram, because that is using 3, 3gb of it. For me blackscreens only occur when pushing the vram too far.
New beta 9.5 driver There's a new 9.5 beta driver which doesn't address directly on the black screens but I've had certain improvements with delaying them. Also, got my OverDrive tab back. Cheers!
The description of the non-recoverable blackscreen is consistent with what AMD pulled on the 78xx cards, it was caused by cheap 1-cent caps on the backside of the card. Of course it doesn't affect everyone but a fair % of users.
it's dota 2 and lol stutter with monitor at 120 hz? I have a gtx 770 and i want buy a R9 290 but dunno if it's a good idea... pls a bit of help
I have removed all sleeved extensions from the power supply, so now only the original cables are being used, just to see if it makes a difference, which I doubt, since the multimeter reads the voltage properly even on the extensions under load. I'll keep you guys informed.
i am getting red or black bsods in bf4 once in a while, more often in the beginning of my session, and then it kinda stays working. I hope its nothing hardware related.
I just blackscreened again playing Battlefield 4. This is at 1125/1250 which has been stable since the fix drivers came out. I discarded the sleeved extensions as it just happened without them as well (And voltage is constant +12V on those cables too). I'll try stock 1000/1250 to see if I get them again (It may happen after a day or two, doesn't always happen. If it still happens in 2 weeks I may just sell the card and grab 2x 290's, I know it may also have the problems but they're much cheaper and I could grab 2 which will be pretty much like 2 290X's.
I would definitely try stock settings and it should be stable. After some testing it seemed like these cards can't oc stable for ****, but stock it ran fine. I switched over to a gtx 780 ti after I sold my card on ebay and I'm able to hit 1250mhz stable, 1290mhz 3dmark run. I was hoping the r9's could be good overclockers, but idk what the deal is, the components are pushed to its limit?
