My trading routes are finally getting me some $$ for upgrades.... cool..

 

Where are people finding the elite plans? I don't want to spoil it all, but are they at diving bell locations or treasure maps on islands in the south?

All I have is the elite ram and elite mortar storage.

The elite ram, by the way, is absurdly strong.

 

Treasure map had 1 or 2 elite plans, think got one from fleet trading. Most are from diving bells I believe.

Seems Ubi updated the patch notes, which is still pretty vague. Anyway, this appears to be the full changelog:

Seemed to have fixed most issues I was having, like not being able to bind some of the right keyboard buttons, and not being able to select the dagger you can take from an agile guard. As mentioned, DLC pop-ups also no longer happen on every start-up.

 

Yea the vanilla version of AC4 is $30 no at Amazon for PC, PS3, and 360..... the pc gold version is still $80. Amazon free shipping is $35 though....

Just played a couple of hours, the game runs much better now than it did 1 week ago and they fixed my assassination bug! I will get back into the game for sure now. I'm curious when will they launch the physix/apex patch or did they do that already?

 

I don't think the APEX particles have been added yet.

^ Will crush every bit of performance, by vanilla game is not running well, adding physx it will make it worse.

I really can't imagine what type of GPU's (3 gtx780 Ti ? ) will run at 60fps is this scenario.

We are only talking about one effect. It won't tank performance as long as you have a pretty high-end GPU. A game with more extensive Physx will have a much larger performance hit, see Batman Arkham Origins for instance.

If you have a very high end CPU achieving 60fps isn't that hard. I don't think a self-reflective smoke will be that demanding.

 

High-end CPU, the game barely uses 3 cores...

It will tank every CPU and GPU setups, simply because CPU is not used in AC4.

Physx in AC4, we are talking here only about smoke ? No other effects included from physx suite ?

The game isn't a marvel of optimization that's for sure but I'm not terribly unhappy with the performance. There's no doubt that the API must have made things much more difficult. I know I sound like a broken record but to have spoken with developpers the API bottleneck must never be understated.

Regarding Physx we are only looking forward smoke enhancements. No persistent particles or cloth simulation via APEX.

 

The game ran amazing on my laptop(7970M), how come you guys with a high end GPU have bad performance?! and the game is nvidia optimized too.

 

Is it wise to have a mix of ships in the fleet or is there no real advantage and just go for bigger the better?

 

Just installed this last night and got a ctd from the options menu when selecting MSAA. Then a freeze when re-launching. After which for the 10mins I played it ran beautifully. Its not unknown for games to sometimes get upset whilst changing in game graphic settings, but is the game generally stable?

I wont be playing it until Christmas, but would be good to know if I can expect a crash free experience?

 

Never had any stability problems or graphic glitches with it with my rig.

 

Force it on high on .ini file and set to read only ?
