Hi guys, I bought a new setup last summer and since then i had constant problems with it, The Graphics card i bought is so unstable and i just dont know why. When i'm just doing some surfing on the web it performs great but when i'm playing games like Tera or Counterstrike it lags and not all moments but just random lagg. Even if i have the settings all at low and a low resolution. My setup : AMD 8350 octa core : ASROCK 970 extreme : Msi 7870 : Corsair 600W : i cant send the links with it, not post count 10 yet.. I really hope that someone could me with this problem i'm really sick of not being able to play what a want. Greets Bas
Hmm... Random is never good; give us an idea of how often it occurs, and how many fps it runs at, and how long it lasts. It's not a system RAM problem, it's not a power supply problem, and I doubt it's your OS... So that leaves just your CPU or GPU. Are you running the latest stable Catalyst Control Center drivers :3eyes: The easiest way to troubleshoot your situation is to beg a friend to lend you his AMD GPU, plug it into your system and start running games. If his GPU still gives you lag, then we'll know it's a bigger problem than the GPU.
It happens really often like every 20 seconds the GPU usage of the graphics card drops from 50% to like 20 %, i ran some benchmarks and the usage there was constant like 98,99%. At Unigine heaven benchmark 4.0 i had the following results at max settings : FPS : 25.1 score : 633 Min FPS : 6.8 this was during the black sreens it took to load the scenes. Max FPS : 55.9 At Unigine Valley Benchmark 1.0 i had the following results at max settings : FPS 31.3 Score : 1308 Min FPS : 14.4 Max FPS : 59.7 I looked this benchmark up and 1300 was average for this graphics card. Overal pretty solid for these benchmarks.
Would it help if just unistalled all the amd drivers with the unistaller from AMD and just install everything again. I've tried many times to reistall windows with a flushed harddisk but it comes back everytime (the lagg). I tried giving the graphics card a little more power in Msi afterburner (since i have a msi card). But as soon as i start up a game the computer shuts down and i get a blue screen wich tells me that the pc has shut down to prevent damage to the system. I'm really confused about it, because it could be so many things. (like always with a pc)
A few questions: 1) Have you tried to update motherboard and GPU BIOS? 2) Did you update chipset drivers and directx? 3) Are you running any third-party programs/services in background? 4) Does it happen only in fullscreen mode? 5) Is your GPU running in 3D clocks while gaming even when lag occurs? Also run GPU-Z and click on "?" button next to Bus Interface then start render test and check if PCI-E has changed from 1.1 to 2.0.
To give you an idea of what i'm talking about http : //72139.ict-lab.nl/bench/ this is a quick site i made to show you the information
Its a brand new card so that would not be an option for me, i really want to know how to get my GPU usage up.
Sorry, I'm not really familiar with Tera or Counterstrike so I have to ask. Are these DirectX or OpenGL based games?
