It will downsampling by your monitor, I think it might be your monitor issues?

I have 3 monitors (1920x1080) in extended mode if I don't use eyefinity.
I can see the game also in my right monitor, but only on the left side .

Do I have to disable the 2 other monitors to make it work?
Main monitor is using dual-link dvi and only this monitors uses higer res (2560x1440)

Is it mandatory to use a DVI connection in order to do downsampling?, or is it possibile to do it with HDMI connection too?. Thanks

I use displayport. Seen success stories over hdmi too, just find the right registry key for you.

Ok, I'm going to try this again one more time. Can somebody provide me with the correct values for 1920x1200 to 2720x1700, please? I have a Samsung T260HD monitor.

I can give you my block when I get home (in ~9 hours), but I suggest you just follow the procedure, I do have Dell U2412M, dunno if they will be the same.

thanks, so HDMI (on both Nvidia and AMD cards) isn't going to be an obstacle in using downsampling? i beleived so since i remember it had some limitations versus the DVI connection (bandwidth, max resolutions supported etc.) or at least that was the situation before the 1.3 version. Please Excuse me if i reiterate the question, but i am about to buy a monitor that hasn't got the DVI in, and i want to be sure that it it will not prevent me to use downsampling, since i'm really looking forward to use it in the future.

You need to put it in the right place for your monitor tho.

I have only attempted "downsampling" with AMD cards on my LG - 42LD450 1080p monitor with HDMI. The best resolution I have achieved is 2720x1530. If you have not yet then I would read through this page ->http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=366244&page=1 (The first page of this thread). It contains links to information regarding maximum resolutions and settings for NVidia cards also.

seems like the highest resolutions were acheived through DVI connections tough, I wonder if it is a simple coincidence or because the DVI is best suited for this purpose, due to it's technical features.

Highest resolutions were achieved with cards not from 79xx series... for some reason downsampling is very limited there with 2720 is top horizontal rezolution.

Is it possible to add multiple resolutions to the registry using this current method?

ok, so HDMI is in no way a limiting factor in using the downsampling method, is it right? both kind of connections are capable of achieving the same results. It's more a matter of gpu/kind of monitor used. If it's like that, than i will buy the asus MX279H without any more worries, since the only thing that was preventing me to choose this monitor was the absence of DVI connection. As gpu i will use the r9 280X that has the same chip from the HD 7970 so i guess i will have to deal with the same limitations (but that's not so bad since 2560×1440 already seems like a challenging resolution for this card)

That monitor is said to support hdmi 1.4 (not on official page, but saw in various specs), thats 4k resolution easily. Even hdmi 1.3 eats 2720x1700 for breakfast and asks for more.
So no, hdmi port won't stop you, 2 things might get in the way:
    - monitor does not want to downsample anything higher than native
    - you are using something in between the computer and monitor, like receiver, that can easily cut up to 1080p (mine does)

Overall I'm almost positive you will have no issues with resolutions up to what your card can do - 2720x1700

thanks for the clarirification, really :ying: . Yes this monitor should have 1.4 hdmi ports, so it seems that the limitations that i rememered this connection once had, have been overcome with newer revisions of the standard, very well.

This isn't true at all. Many people have been able to get that resolution with downsampling. It's not easy to get to it, but it's not impossible either. The biggest hindrance is the lack of support of driver downsampling options in Catalyst. AMD hasn't yet provided support for it, so users are left to deal with monitor downsampling which is hit or miss depending on what kind of monitor one has.

There is also a tool called "Tommti's SSAA Tool" which is driver based downsampling which allows for 4k resolutions and higher.

Well I think milktree is correct, if by "current" card he meant 79xx series. It seems there is a driver limitation, as with previous gen you can easily surpass 2720x1700 and reach 3840, but you lack the gpu performance to utilize that resolution. I have no idea what limit does 290/X impose and if it is doable, I'd love somebody with such a card to try it on
