Hi there guys/gals I've been helping a friend with his system (bit dated... lol). I can't seem to find drivers for Windows 7 32bit for the ATI x550. I'm assuming it is what peeps are referring to as Legacy drivers and have even contacted AMD support directly, (with no reply after a week- Boo AMD). I dont need any fancy drivers, just plain standard, stable driver that will let an Asus EAX550 actually launch games as the current driver (one windows installed automatic) crashes. Please help.
Windows default drivers will probably suffice i'd say, just change the resolution to match his monitor.
Tried that but load up any 3d game and crashes back to desktop. Sadly I dont have screen shot of error code with me, will ask him to take a photo tonight when he get's home and send me to share here.
Try this driver: Link: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=382425 AMD Catalyst 13.9 WHQL (8.970.100.1100 April 29) Legacy Driver It's the latest WHQL available for Legacy users.
AMD 13.9 Legacy is the Latest driver for Legacy Users but it does not include support for Previous Legacy Graphic Cards.
These should work as the X550 is in the support list. These won't work as the x550 is not in the support list. Although copying over the .ini file might work but may cause issues. I would say to the OP tell your friend to try those 12.11 drivers first if it works and everything is fine then leave it well alone as I doubt any other drivers would improve things if anything at all for that card.
Thanks a mill. Downloading both 12.11 and 13.1 drivers, will test 12.11 first, if it works I';; stick wit that, if not will try the 13.1. Will give it a go and report. Thanks a million again.
