I realize there are few BF4 threads but can we make this one dedicated to BF4 tweaks, tips, etc?

Here are the setting I use with my single GTX-680 (Nvidia 331.40 Beta Drivers) and seems to be playing pretty nice with all the eye candy.

Basically I increased Resolution Scale to 120% and turned off some stuff you don't really need to make your game pretty. All the blur and motion effects I disabled them.

Resolution scale is pretty impressive tool to have within in-game options for sure. King of Fighters could use something like that.

Win8 with 331.40 beta driver was the only way to get decent performance.

2560x1440 Ultra settings (except AO/MSAA/AA Post/Motion Blur OFF) at 70 FPS average.

The FPS still drops off when around lots of smoke (setting effects quality & post processing to low didn't help).

Performance aside, it became very boring after a few rounds :(

Ultra with 2xmsaa and no motion blur, with SweetFX.

    Around 60fps (capped)

Installed w8 last night, no stutters but need to test more to make sure it's all fixed.

It made quite a difference for me.

On Win7 my FPS kept dropping to 10-20 while standing still. When walking around the FPS would jump between 40 & 50 causing it to chug.

Lowering settings & using different drivers didn't resolve this issue on Win7.

After installing a Win8 Trial the game ran smooth.

W8 makes the game to gain like a 20% fps and the stutters gone on my rig.

I hope the match this with W7 once is released because I dont really like W8 at all.

1680x1050 Ultra, MSAA off. Works 55-60fps but there is some areas not optimalized, that performance can drop to like 20-30fps. But it's common issue, my friend with GTX680, have drops too, in that same area. It's Beta, in fact it's OLD Beta, oldest then we see in gameplays. DICE have Month to fix this game, Hope they will do this in time without Day one patch :)

And game works little bit better on Windows 8

Don't expect the same performance on Windows 7. There's a reason why DICE recommends Windows 8.

I found this game works better on windows 8. REason they go windows 8 is so that they can use directx 11.1. Dice is like the only company these days trying to make full use of your system. I know this is unoptimized but I'm sure on final release the game will be a lot better. I'm getting about 95FPS on 2560x1440@96hz. I limited my fps to 95Hz.

Make a user.cffg file with the following included

    RenderDevice.Dx11Enable 1
    RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1Enable 0
    RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1RuntimeEnable 0
    RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
    WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurForceOn 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurFixedShutterTime 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurMax 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount 0
    WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0
    WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapResolution 256
    WorldRender.LightTileCsPathEnable 0
    RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 0
    PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0
    PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1
    gametime.maxvariablefps 95

Be sure to turn on vsync and set the fps limit to one lower than refresh rate to reduce input lag

put the following file in your documents/Battlefield4 directory and then launch server. Change resolution to native and try anything between 80% and 100% render quality. Also turn graphics to lowest possible settings.

BTW that config was taken from another pc and it worked fine there. Specs = i5-3330 and gtx550ti. got about 40-60fps. With that 550TI impressive

Eclap, you said that w7 have the same frame-rate as W8, right?

You want to justify your purchase or there is it really runing better on W8?

Similar, maybe a few more minimum fps. Felt much smoother though. Will post back in detail after work.

The consensus is BF4 runs better on Windows 8 while using the 331.40 Beta Drivers.

Also keep in mind Windows 8.1 update should be around the corner this month and should increase performance even more. I understand will handle DirectX better.
