This is driving me crazy, I have been trying to OC and see how high I can come since yesterday. I don't know but I find it was very easy to hit 4GHz with my i7 920. But this one is pain >_< I tried to disable Speedstep but no matter what I do, when I OC like 4.2/4.3 And come in to Windows and run OCCT when test begin my cpu drop to 800MHz. Even I know that it should always stay on 4.3GHz I have even boot in to Windows at 4.5GHz but when I start stress test, cpu drop to 800MHz and lock there until I reboot, sometimes when I reboot it even stay at 800MHz. Is there a lock somewhere I don't know? I have seen in a video on youtube that Asus guy JJ explain and did his OC but didn't boot in to Windows. But what make me crazy is cpu keep drop itself to 800MHz. :bang: EDIT: Boots fine with 4.2GHz but when 3D applications runs cpu kick down to 800MHz how come :bang:
Since no one know, than I have one more question. Anyone know where I can find TDP in bios settings for Gryphon z87?
Are you sure its not balanced power plan fault? And re-enable all those C-states. Power limit is in AI tweaker, DIGI+ section. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GRYPHON_Z87/8.html But you dont need to change here much, only cpu current to 130%, LLC to 6 instead of auto and phase control to optimized, that's about it. & CPU, but here leave all at auto. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GRYPHON_Z87/images/bios_10.jpg
I though it was in CPU Power Management: Long Duration Package Power Limit Allows you to limit the Turbo Ratios time duration that exceeds the TDP (Thermal Design Power) for maximum performance. The values range from 1W t0 4096W
I though so too, until I run stress test at 4.6GHz and PC reboot. But if I put 250 in there, stress test fine at 4.6GHz with 75c
I have it at auto and its ok.. Onetime I've put all max values and it throttled a lot. But dont get confused by this voltage& clock in idle @ balanced powerplan
Didn't work for me on auto with high OC. But I read that around 200 - 250 is ok, I think it was on guru3D review of 4770K. The one you showed me "130" it's already on as default.
Almost same as mine except CPU Power Pase/Duty and some other. Have not tried your settings yet and see how it turns out. But settings I use, is working fine for me at 4.6GHz, have not tried higher yet. Maybe I will do that and see how high I can get.
