Although, technically, the bits about violence not being a part of "true Islam" are off. Intolerance of infidels(heathen/whatever) is codified in the old testament, and is canon to all Abrahamic religions. The difference is in the societal norms of the practitioners, not the religions. Practitioners in most societies ignore the violent parts, focus on the happy parts, and simply imagine the canon as they would like it to be.
