It's not me, it's the drivers!

    Hi,

Anybody who has been following my posts in the driver threads will understand this much more, for those with no idea, here is a brief explanation, when switching to 326.XX as soon as I launched BF3 I could notice constant dips to 59.7, 59.6, 59.3, etc etc etc, now normally I only get the occasional dip to 59.9 which I have ALWAYS explained away many times in the past, as IMO most likely simply an afterburner reading issue with the actual 59.97hz refresh rate that is actually 60hz.

I am not going into any more detail.

I decided, YET AGAIN, to switch to the 326.80 drivers via a clean installation, this time, not forgetting to test with PCI-E 3.0 hack enabled as this was the only variable left, as I suspected it was nothing at all to do with it.

This time, I decided to take screen shots of my afterburner readout so people could see what I was ACTUALLY talking about.

Observe my FPS line on 314.22

    And on 326.80

Clearly BF3 is just not running as smooth and quite often these dips are accompanied by a micro stutter.

So my message is this, it's not me, it's not my rig, and it's not my electrical supply lol it really is, the drivers!

What happens when you swap your two Titans around?

Yep, 314.22 was the last "stable" driver. I hope the next one will resolve your issues.

Not quite sure why thats funny. Onboard Audio is enough for many.

Well he says Nvidia HD Audio, so he is likely running 5/7.1 PCM via HDMI to a receiver.

Glad he got it sorted though, these micro dips can be quite noticeable and annoying especially when you have spent so much on your GPU's.

32x.xx drivers have had GPU usage drops since 320.00 and still not fixed, as someone already said, 6 months and still they're unable to offer a driver as good as 314.22, 32x.xx only brings to the table a minor performance boost but with lots of bugs, temperature increase, voltage increase in some cases forced to make the drivers work, GPU usage drop (the reason I'm considering going AMD) and serious bugs with desktop software, of course they're still not supporting Vegas Pro 12, they're better off with people buying Quadro's, what a company Nvidia was and what they are now, no console contracts, no one wants them, and it's clear to see why.

BTW, are there BIOS updates at Asus site for your card? Have you tried them?

I have modded BIOS at my card with the help of Kepler-BIOS-Editor-Unlocker

I have lowered maximum boost frequency (to lower temperatures and therefore noises).

When I had GTX 580s I had a weird framerate drop issue in BF3. Game would run great then for a few seconds framerate would plummet and id start stuttering and jerking, etc.

Tried every driver i could, reinstalled windows, etc etc.

Eventually I swapped the cards in the PCIe slots - problem went away.
Swapped them back - problem returned.

So, what have you got to lose giving it a test? Unless, ofc, they're in a WC loop, which is a problem :)

Agreed I will give it a go later cheers, I just feel as everything is perfect with 314.22 I cannot see that being the problem.

I've noticed this stuttering going on in BF3 with my 680. The game will play fine for around 5 minutes then the stuttering begins. It's not all of the time but it's there and you notice it. Hope the new WHQL's sort out the problem. Any news on them btw ?
