Dear Guru3d. Recently i've bought this pc : i5-3570K HD7870 XT jokercard 8 gb corsair vengeance memory MSI Z77A-G45 Crucial M4 128 gb ssd Gelid Tranquillo Rev.2 XFX pro 550W Then the problem occured, when im gaming everything is fine and i have a max temp of 68-70. But when im just in windows surfing or whatever and I go afk and I come back the temp will be around 75 degrees. I thought this was really weird and i contacted the company where I build the system. They have send me a new HD7870 XT which I received today. However I just installed the card and I still have the problem! Whenever im afk and I come back my video card is really hot or whenever im watching a video it gets really hot. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks! Thezir.
Weird I have same card and gpu's usage when watching films or playin flash games/youtube watch is 0-5% max, so no temp to rise... First- update ur flash player, sec, change player...im personaly usin MPHCx64 with no problems. When it happens- does fan increase speed? At this temps(personally i saw 75 max) i have fan at 40-44% speed and is horribly noisy. So no way u can miss it, unless it doesn't work at all....
Can you monitor how the fan speed changes when you switch from a gaming load state to an idle state (Desktop)?
Hey This screenshot below is after being afk for a minute or so. This screenshot below is whilst beeing active. ill try to monitor going from a load state to an idle state. - Thezir p.s Sorry for the large images!
After how much time have you set your monitor to turn off? Check the card physically, does the fan spin down when you're away from your PC?
10 minutes. & here are some logs from GPU-z This is when im active on the pc : This is when im 'afk' (The gpu core & memory clock were higher but when I took this screenshot they immediently dropped to 300/150): This is when I show activity after beeing afk
I have almost the same specs and I have the same problem with the gpu when idle. Did you have found a solution?
Some 7850 and 7870 cards turned out to be quite bad....I was forced to RMA 3x 7850 MSI OC version with 1Gb Ram, temps were...terrific - 70C idle and around 100C on load, with sound like jet engine.
