Hi well i live in Chile and here the choices i have is Sapphire 7950 flex (420 us) and Sapphire HD 7970 Ghz 3gb for (560us), so the question is do i go for the HD 7950 and apply oc to it to or save more for the HD 7970 ??? have the money but dont know wich is best choise and how much will be the diference in fram ?? i play bf3 and LOL
Save up and get the 420 usd one. The difference is more or less 5%. With OCing they're both beasts and you gain the same much.
If you wanna pay less for more performance then yes.I think it's a mistake not to wait less than 15 or 30 days.
Waiting a bit may change prices, but in general HD7950 OCed is close to HD7970 OCed. HD7950 performance/price ratio is better than both gtx670/680. HD7970 performance/price ratio is better than both gtx670/680. And both AMD cards are cheaper too. But new nV series may bring some nice improvement in things above. Unfortunately I think they'll start with gtx780 which may not be capable to push AMD prices down. But let's see, few weeks wait may be worth it, since you'll own card for year or two. I have HD7970 from 1st batch and I love it even while my investment to early card + cooling solution would allow me to buy nearly 2 HD7950 after price dropped. But in that particular case I would have to wait 4 months on intel GPU. Your wait should be very short.
In here GTX680 costs 600 ~ 650$ GTX670 costs 450 ~ 550$ HD7970 costs 470 ~ 600$ HD7950 costs 350 ~ 400$ All including VAT. Range is based on different models from same shop (no double memory size). So I believe here GTX780 will be like 600 ~ 700$ but it's price/performance ratio will be better than ones of GTX670/680 and that will push prices down. While nV may release uncompetitive card against AMD with good marketing, but it would be stupid to set new GPU way it destroys currently marketed nV products. And I actually think that GTX7xx series may prove to be good.
The OP said he could get the 7970 for 560 USD.If the GTX780(Titan LE) will cost, lets say 550 USD, this means, more performance than the 7970 ghz and 5GB vram, and because it's a new card whenever he decides to sell it, it will have more value aswell. 15-30 days isn't that much, is it?No one will die for that.
Well a 3GB 7970 costs around $400 USD on NewEgg, so if a 7970 in Chile is $560 USD it's probably safe to assume the 780 will be over $700....
With the way Nvidia has been hiking prices at the release of every new card I wouldn't doubt seeing the 780 at $700 or more even in the USA. Look at the high end releases. The titan and the 690 are way over priced. I remember buying the 295 for just $600 right after release. I also bough t the 285 at release for $450 and it was the top EVGA FTW model. I do not doubt that they'll look at the current market and say "Hmmm, since the 680 is priced at $550 then our new 780 should be priced at $750 because that is the percentage of improvement our customers will receive." Instead of allowing it to push the rest of the pricing down.
you do understand that different countries have different prices? just look at USA vs UK, you say Titan LE will cost $550, that would make it around £355 which of course will never happen and the Titan LE will cost as much in GBP in the UK as it will USD in the states.
yeah well here the prices are like 50 to 100us more, and they start selling them like 1 week to 2 after release.
