True, but I can't blame From. These guys make games with their souls and are purely passionate in what they do. They are just a bit technically inapt for what we're used to see in the western market. I totally understand that a relatively small console japanese dev studio could struggle a bit with porting Dark Souls. I have no fear for this PC version this time. They learned from their mistakes and will probably get more resources on it.
I don't know if they are technically Inept or if it was a simple case of rush and just get a PC version to capitalize on the growing interest. Either way the game was amazing so a poor port was easily forgivable
I wish we could get Demon's Souls (I know it's impossible). I finished Dark Souls then tried to play it on the PS3...it was difficult to get into. It seems like these games you need to be closer to the screen, or maybe it's just me. My TV is a 56", so it's not like it's small.
There are a lot of infos about Dark Souls 2 on NEOGAF right now. Just too lazy to post them here. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=538551 http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=538500
http://www.gamekult.com/actu/zoom-dark-souls-ii-A108297.html French interview saying PC is lead platform meaning it will run at 60fps while consoles run at 30fps. Rebuilt engine since it took them awhile to make Dark Souls, so that engine is outdated. Not going to be on Next-Gen consoles at this time. Edit: Wanny posted the same thing, but I linked to the direct source.
I hope it will be 60fps because that 12 minute video looked like 30fps , and i find it weird not to show the best possible version. oh btw
I agree Skyrim's combat is boring/simple and The Witchers combat is better but it feels like it's xpadded to the controller. I just hope Souls2 is the same as 1 and they don't screw up the controls on PC or i just get the PS3/4 version..
You know they say it is a whole new engine but to me it looks the same as the previous one. I am wondering if this is kind of like the Skyrim Engine. Not really a new engine at all just a highly reworked & rewritten version of the old.
Dark Souls had very basic visuals which puts it on part with 10+ years old graphics (when the first Hardware TnL cards came out):- 1. Basic 3D Geometry for Level design 2. Little or no shader effects Only the items which could be equipped by the player, had excellent details of geometry and textures(highly detailed for the object size's). Some screen shot reference(mostly weapons):http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197996338052/screenshots But the game was still awesome, just by its gameplay. ----- Comparatively, the gameplay footage of Dark Souls 2 has loads of visual effects and elements. Who cares about DX11
i see you can carry a torch......hopfully it's not a sign of less work to get things, making it to easy....... I like the old way better if you don't find certain things at the right time your stuck in the dark!!
