hi there. i just finished writing my latest guitar instrumental, been working on this one for quite some time as i have a thing for making my songs grow as they go by adding lots of guitar layers and keyboards, it's not uncommon for me to spend many month working on a song. it's just a hobby really, i got no band or anything, just my guitars, keyboard, pedals , Drum Machine, free software (cheap) the song is called "My Girl". Year - My Girl i hope you guys enjoy it and your opinion will be appreciated. Thank you.
with the beats in the beginning i thought it was gonna be a hip hip song.. Nice music.. add some vocals to it..
Pretty good! The bass beat is a bit strong, it might be better to reduce the overall level or have the level change during the beat. It reminds me a bit of the first Bill & Ted film when they go to the future. Most tranquil lol.
thanks guys much appreciated i will try equalize the sound, don't have a real studio at home or anything lol just Audacity and a couple of multitrack apps. one thing i want to say is that i can shred if i want to, but somehow i always thought guitars should really "speak" to the listener, it should sing like voice, especially for Melodic Rock songs like this, i do like to mimic the vocality of a human being on the guitar without using effects like "WahWah", only technique. and i know absolutely nothing about music theory, scales, dorian or whatever the hell this stuff is, i've always played by ear. PS. just a little background for those who are interested. as for the rig i use a multieffect, the Digitech RP90, the overdrive i use are the TubeScreamer TS9 and the amp simulated Marshall JCM800 distortion, also unlike many guitarists, i use a lot of Compressor. i use 0.8s strings lol
lol that's funny because i actually wrote Lyrics for this song, that's how i got the guitar melody, i need to write some kind of lyrics in order to make the guitar "sing it", not viceversa. anyway here's the lyrics i wrote when i first started. *First Part* There's no more time to say, the words i really wanted to say 'cause now you're gone away, and i am falling apart you, you were, the light that shined, deep inside this, lonely heart of mine no i don't care, and i don't mind that i feel this pain *Second Part* it's hard to look at the clouds again, when all i see are thunderstorms the rain is falling like tears from the sky, it's washing you away the drops are burning my soul, and on my knees i crumble and fall you used to be my strenght My Girl, the king is now without his queen (clean guitar part) - Memories of you will never fade, even though you're gone away now i still love you girl nothing else i can do and forever you'll be My Girl. *final chorus* - the clouds has disappeared, the sun is shining again on me the voices are gone and i will always love you My Girl."
Sounds good. I'd be tempted to make the drums/keys a bit quieter in the mix though, they overpower the guitar. Add some reverb to 'em too.
*Rocking out to Year's tune* Great job, I like it. I agree with the others, I also think the guitar should be louder.
Very nice... I like the way you let the melodies speak for themselves. Throw that up on Youtube! and uh.. get someone who knows how to handle a vid cam, not just those typical webcam ops most use for YT.
I can just see that 80's hair style blowing in the wind! haha, very nice work bro. Very chill and easy going!
