EVGA Stock GTX 680 Bios - 80.04.47.00.80 Needed Please!! [Solved]

    Hello all,

It shames me to admit this but I received another GTX 680 today to SLI with, but my existing GTX 680 is a stock, reference card I got back at the very release date of the 680 series.

That BIOS version is the original 80.04.09.00.80. I tried to flash this to the newer card to do a quick-and-dirty BIOS unlock to the new card, but it malfunctioned after doing so, and like a complete fool I got cocky and didn't back up the original BIOS. After doing a lot of research, I believe the BIOS version I need is 80.04.47.00.80. I've searched extensively for this BIOS version but I can't find it anywhere.

If anyone can save a copy of their GTX 680 BIOS and upload it, I would greatly appreciate it...I at least know I can safely recover the card using nvflash since my first card is still working fine, I just need the right BIOS for my second card.

I checked all the techpowerup bios, and that one is an older version. (80.04.09.00.00)

The card is definitely a 2 GB version reference card. It had a different BIOS fro m what my original card was. Both cards are on 80.04.09.00.80 now but the second card is not functioning on that now. Apparently some of the newer 2 gb cards can also be on that bios version.

The 80.04.47.00.80 is not the bios you need then can you provide the model numbers for the cards you have working and non working. Also you could try to get the BIOS from EVGA as well.

It's definitely an EVGA card. There is definitely some 680s with the newer BIOS that I need, as evident from this thread: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1792516&mpage=1

Apparently the newer cards that come with this BIOS cannot be placed on the older BIOS...

Yeah my second 670 is a different BIOS than my first one as well the size of the dump file is twice what the first one is to I'd say contact EVGA and se if they can send you the file.

I just got off the phone with them and the representative was mostly useless, only offering up the card for RMA if it's a hardware issue -_-

Well damn that sucks you can try the bios I linked at the start but I doubt it will work any better for you I don't have a 680 so my BIOS would be useless to you sorry I could not be of any more help.

I definitely seem to need a reference 2 GB EVGA GTX 680 80.04.47.00.80 BIOS, for the hell of it I flashed the 4 GB version to it, and the card seems to work now, but I can't SLI because of the "differences."

Yup. But it's very unstable. Driver crashes like crazy. But it beats flashing the older reference bios where the card basically just got an error in the device manager.

Ok everything is all fixed. Both cards working well now. :)

I did some more research and you can have EVGA send you the new BIOS if you specifically request a BIOS update that supports UEFI booting for Windows 8. After I mentioned that to the tech support, he immediately offered to give me the file.

I flashed my card with it and boom, working golden now. :)

Thanks again for all your suggestions guys...

    No problem.

This is the latest BIOS for reference (2 GB) EVGA GTX 680 cards. This BIOS worked on both my old card that was from launch, and my new card I just got over the weekend. :)

See if you can get them to add it to techpowerup's archive.
