No, but if your BIOS version has the letters HY then you prob have Hynix.

the card is dual bios, the bios switch was in position 2 out of the box, with bios fz1. I then flashed f43 overoit but I'm assuming the other bios on the card is fz1? Will try it tonight to see if it's any stable.

My asus 7970 also runs at 1 gig processor speed...as per ccc, stock.

I just looked at the box, it is a GHz edition...

So the replacement for my 6950 was a ghz 7870...

I thought it was that due to ccc "enable graphics overdrive.

The clock is actually 1010Mhz, stock, no overclocking from me.

my idle core voltage is 0.803-0.805v. I'll try bumping that to 0.850.

Yep that's definitely low. I have problems if mine gets below 0.85.

I just did what you said, made a profile for 2D and 3D (the 2D one with .850v). Sorry I was a bit slow when you posted that pic, it was a .png and I saw it on my phone and only saw the main MSIA window, not the other ones next to it showing how you have it set up.

What problems do you have when you go below .850v btw?

If the clocks ramp up faster than the GPU volts I get a driver reset,

Also, sometimes when I wake my PC from sleep mode the screen will be frozen with a bunch of lines going across it, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL returns it to normal.

ah ok, thanks. Also noticed that after setting 450/900 for 2D clocks when the card switches to 2D clocks it runs 300/150 instead. weird.

That's cuz the overclock speeds only take effect in 3D mode.

oh I see, so I can set the 2D clocks to pretty much anything and it'll still revert to 300/150? so you have 300/150 in idle as well? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions btw, but I'm kinda liking this challenge set up by AMD lol.

    Doesn't bother me...lol

Yeah in 2D the clocks won't change only the voltage does.

OK, cool... well, I had a gsod just now, but that was because I ran 3Dmark @1600mhz for memory. so it happens under load too, but that one was clearly down to too high an overclock. sitting at 1100/1500 now and waiting for gsod to happen lol. Will try some games/benchmarks/browsing to see if I can push the card into any kind of freezes.

Just played 30 mins of bf3 at 1100/1500 ultra settings (including 4xmsaa but no motion blur) and my lowest fps was 61. amazing. not a single glitch either. let's just hope that the stupid gsod goes away for good now.

What voltage you have your memory? 1.5v or 1.6v?
I set mine to 1.6v for the extra juice and the temps on the VRMs are up by 1C at max.

Hey everyone. I'm back. Nice to see that this post is still going strong. :)

I just wanted to give everyone a status update. My 7950 was really really unstable and I should have noticed it right away since it didn't boot the first couple of tries I did after installing it.

Anyways, after a long winded rma (and money back) procedure, I have now bought a Gigabyte 7970 instead. Same WF3 cooler and same clockspeed as stock (1000MHz 1350MHz stock on this one). There were two to choose from and I opted for the one with 1000 MHz OC instead of the 1100 MHz OC as the former one was almost 60€ cheaper.

I still like Gigabyte even though I had issues. Luckily my retailer is a really nice one, and they gave me two games earlier (Borderlands 2 and Assassins Creed 3) and Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinate this time. The AMD never settle promo bundle wasn't for this card according to their customer support but I got it anyway as a form of apologize I assume. I also got every cent of shipping cost back, so I didn't lose anything from this ordeal. I gained four games instead :)

    Peace out.

nice one, glad you are enjoying your new card :)

EDIT: I've just had a GSOD, first one of the day. I'm getting fed up now. did a lot of things today to see if my card behaves, played D3, Asetto Corsa, pCARS, Crysis 3, ran Heaven bench, browsed a lot, youtubed a lot... all good, until just now I went to launch an .avi file and I got a GSOD.

Thinking about calling Novatech tomorrow and getting a new card. Anyone went through RMA with Novatech? Will they just swap the cards or will I have to wait? The card is still only a week old.

Just had another 2 GSOD in a space of a minute. I've had enough, I'm calling Novatech tomorrow. Will I have to flash back to the stock bios before I take it back?

I'd flash back just in case. I know Gigabyte don't mind and will honor the warranty anyways but maybe local stores are a bit more "capricious" about those things.

Sorry to hear you have troubles with your card and hope everything will be settled swiftly man.

Yeah, here's hoping you get as good help as I got, even though it usually takes a few weeks. Fingers crossed!
