I said earlier on this week before the Titan pricing was released that I suspected that the rumoured limited run of 10,000 cards would result in a high price and it seems I was right. Anyway, I've said enough about the cost so I'll just finish by saying that it is an amazing card apart from that. So who is buying one then? And who is buying two for SLI?
Any chance you could test The Witcher 2 with the Uber filter enabled, as this is currently one of the most power hungry games ?
nice card but damn screw that price. 660gtx will serve me well for 3 years before it both, Unless a game comes out I really need new card for.
Here you go and sorry https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/NVIDIA+GeForce/GeForce+Titan Also just noticed that EVGA have overclocked versions on their website so don't buy an EVGA reference Titan, apart from being more expensive, chances are its already been binned! http://www.evga.com/articles/00729/
And Max Payne 3 and Hitman Absolution with 8xMSAA as well on single and multiple displays? In fact, I would love to see a feature on VRAM usage. Is that 6 GB of VRAM really worth having at this point?
Nice review. disappointed about the card. hoped it would beat the 690 when oc'd. Good point, its exactly what ive been thinking. there seems no bottleneck when it comes to that ? (680's and 690's when reaching 2gb)
Yea.... edit: I confused by the Crysis 2 performance table. (the order the cards are listed in that table is different to others). No typo! Nice review overall!
They didn't actually progress, since the GK110 core has been out for more than 1 year already (although, only for Tesla cars).
Would have liked to see some compute performance benchmarks , just out of interest. Good review none the less. Dont think ill get one to be honest, will just wait till the next series comes out.
About the card´s price, it´s obviously too much for a gaming card and for the performance it offers but we have to remember that this is the same silicon that powers the Tesla range, where cards are sold at more than double the price. So if gamers want the privilege to game with a card that is sold at a much higher price as an workstation card, it´s only natural that Nvidia is going to charge a lot for it!!! In a certain way, i think this price is Nvidia´s artificial way to unsure most of this chips are sold as Tesla cars instead of Geforce cards because producing a chip this complex shouldn´t be easy and the yields on this thing should be very poor.
Actually I would not mind to see benchmarks for Crysis 1 with this card. Of course I understand that is too old game and there is not enough time but it still would be interesting. No matter what everybody says it is still my favorite game till now. Very nice review Mr. Hilbert. Thank you very much for the article.
Are you buying two because your GTX 680 setup is faster than a single Titan, surely? Or is it the extra VRAM you want it for?
20-30% faster than the competitor's over one year old single chip flagship is not even an impressive engineering feat. When you factor in the absurd pricing, it's even more ridiculous. Before my 7970, I had always bought nvidia (6800GT -> 8800GT -> 285GTX) but this price gouging leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I though AMD was bad for their high pricing of the 7970 at launch but this is literally twice as repulsive.
Lucky US members. Its over 200euros cheaper in the US vs EU. Ehm, anyone is going for a Trip soon in the US? I will pay some extra for your trouble!
Always is cheaper in the US. My 690 in the US was $1000. UK price i paid $1400. Almost 50% more. Britain is a ****ing ripoff.
I know about the price differences. Its been like that, well, forever almost. But damn! A Titan at estimated 745euros/650 pounds. That would be amazing. But lets not forget warranty, shipping etc. Especially warranty. And VAT etc etc.
