Currently on vacation and all I get to use is this PC: Pentium 4 Prescott 2.4 Ghz 2x 512MB DDR RAM ProSavage DDR Onboard Graphics 32MB Windows XP 32-bit I can watch high quality videos from DVD's or if I download the videos on youtube BUT if I stream ANY videos from youtube or any other video streaming site its like watching a .gif image lol Opened up task manager and noticed that CPU usage jumps to 100% when I hit play. Playback is only choppy when I stream videos on youtube even if I set to the lowest quality (240p I think) You think its because of the crappy onboard 32MB video?
What lucidus said. Also are you running in full screen? If yes, switch to normal mode and use the large player instead.
DVD is MPEG2 codec, Youtube it H264 witch need more CPU power or a video card with a hardware decoder. MPEG2 is way easier on the CPU because it's way older. P4 can do 480p with windows setting to MAX, but not Fullscreen. We have one at the store and we can't play any youtube at fullscreen with it. It was given to us so i tolerate it LOL!
Lol I already unchecked it and it still is choppy nope running at the default youtube size Thanks for this explanation! I'm thinking of intentionally breaking this damn thing so that they can replace it c1: :knock:
Try safari browser or from a chrome.... sometimes it helps a bit, P4 with HT should play it fine up to 480p...
Try using Opera for Flash Video. I have found it uses less resources/cpu then FF/IE/Chrome with Flash Video on older PC's.
