    hellow,

i have and Asrock k10n78d mainboard with the latest bios : 1.80
    http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/K10N78D/
and an amd cpu Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition .
    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition - HD96ZTWFK4DGR.html
in bios turbo core in enabled and also cool and quiet .
the cpu voltage is set on auto .

    problems :
1 - the cpu frequency in turbo mode should be 3400 mhz but this cpu stays only at 3000 mhz ( cpu-z used for info and for 100 % stress orthos ) .
today, when i`ve mounted the cpu i`ve saw 3400 mhz but after a restart i have only 3000 mhz .

2 - the cpu voltage with cool and quiet active when idle is 1.376v and when is on full stress 1.456v .
    i saw the cpu works with voltage between 0.825 - 1.40 V when in idle/load ( based on technical data ) .

how can i solve this problems because i want to use the cpu with turbo core for 3400 mhz and with lower idle/load voltage when cool and quiet active .

    thanx !

Turbo is a only a temporary boost, Look real close, you will see it working(not all core's)

    i see only 3000 mhz or 2999.9 .
even when i strees the cpu at 100 % nothing changes .

If all of your cores are stressed at 100% then turbo core will disable. It seems you're thinking when your CPU is being stressed that its supposed to boost the clocks. Your cpu will boost when its not being fully utilized.

Example on a 6 core CPU-
AMD's Turbo CORE is enabled on a six-core processor when three or more cores are not being heavily used. When Turbo CORE enables three of the processor cores get up to a 500MHz boost in performance, while the three at an idle state drop down to 800MHz. Turbo core mode doesn't disable Cool'n"Quiet, which means the cores can still throttle like normal. When Turbo CORE is enabled the increased voltage goes across all the cores, so no voltage gating is taking place on the remaining cores in an idle state. If you start using a multi-threaded application that calls for more than three physical processors then Turbo CORE disables and all six cores are run at the processors rated clock frequency.

Disable Turbo Core and overclock manually in the BIOS. You should be able to hit around 4Ghz....

I also have a good querry about this cpu,

Is it possible to reduse core voltage when idle? cool & quiet seems not to work.
    I always have 1,35V
(fluctuates up to 1.5V if turbo boost enabled)

For CnQ to work you need to use offset voltage.

That happens to all cpu's or for this especially?

    My friend,
I also have 2 Semprons and cool&quiet works as should, I mean core voltage fluctuate from 1.0 to 1.4V.
I had PhenomII 720 and voltage fluctuated too.
But now with 960T voltage does not fluctuate, its always 1,35V.

Do u know any way to auto reduce when idle?

Is offset voltage enabled in BIOS?

You mean if cool % quiet is enabled in bios? yes it is.
You know, it is a common problem that 960T does not fluctuate its voltage.
Point is if there are any ways to fix it.

    Mate did I say CnQ?
For the third time, I said offset voltage - what part did you not understand?

    What is this offset voltage?
I explained you that we are talking about a well known problem of 960T.

Offset voltage also has to be set to on get CNQ working.

When asking for help one must learn to listen or the help goes unheard.

how can i see my cpu with turbo core running at 3400 not 3000 ?
what program to use to make him go at 3400 ?
what program to use instead of cpuz for info ?
what is offset voltage for cpu ? it means auto/manual voltage or extra voltage for him ?

Grab yourself HWINFO if you do not already have it. http://www.hwinfo.com/
Make sure to get the proper install "32bit or 64bit". Start it up an click run when the window pops up. Two windows will open. The smaller window will show all of your cores in real time. For me when I do this, I get green and red lines bouncing cored to core. The red ones are the boosted cores. They willl also show the mhz at which they are running. Try it out for yourself. You shouldnt need to run any other software to get the cores to fluctuate.

it works , but too bad that the boost it doesn`t last long , it lasts 1 second i saw .
    thanx .

there is one problem left :

    - the cpu voltage with cool and quiet active when idle is 1.376v and when is on full stress 1.456v .
    i saw the cpu works with voltage between 0.825 - 1.40 V when in idle/load ( based on technical data ) .
