'Most notable is the acquisition of action series Saints Row and creators Volition Inc. by Koch Media, the company that owns Dead Island publisher Deep Silver. The company also snagged the rights to first-person shooter Metro: 2033 and the soon-to-be released Metro: Last Light. Poor 'Metro: Last Light', hopefully it's found a caring home.
that's the best place for pc heavy dev team tbh. look at creative assembly they are doing great under sega. so i'm rather happy that sega acquired most likely warhammer 40k, coh and homeworld with relic.
This is just... /saaaadface. They made so many great games, the latest being Saints Row 3 wich I absolutely loved! I really wonder what will happen to Vigil Games, the developers of Darksiders 1+2, apparently THQ was more than just the publisher and nobody bought them at the auction. This is so bad, Darksiders especially the second one are one of the best action/rpg games I ever played...
This is a sad day, for gamers and the employees. No company with potential (CoH2 and Metro sequel) should end up like this
A shame for the employees, but if they weren't running the company propertly then hard to feel too sorry for them. Not a fan of many, if any of THQ's IP's, but Koch Media taking on Metro makes sense as i'm sure they published Stalker.

Relic nor THQ owned the rights to Homeworld, i believe it's Vivendi (through Sierra) that own that IP. That's the only reason a Homeworld 3 hasn't been made already and it will never be made unless Sega or someone pays for the IP.
In November 2007, THQ finally confirmed that it had acquired the license for the Homeworld franchise but didn't confirm a sequel maintaining that it had no comments on future games from THQ based on Homeworld. //Homeworld is included in a batch of inactive and legacy assets yet to be auctioned. For now, it is held by THQ. We can only hope Sega bring it to Relic.// Ok so it's up for grabs still hope sega goes for it.
This might not be the most appropriate time to express my opinion, but I would have to agree with this. I would also be very surprised if Homeworld isn't considered a major target for IP acquisition.

And were told they're not getting to work on darksiders any more, since they didn't buy that license. Not that much point as far as the games are concerned, guess they keep their jobs, maybe we'll see them do something similar.
the only game thq pblishes that i care about is company of heroes. seems sega will be taking over relic and company of heroes.... whatever just so long as it comes out and is good.
Yea that's a shame, but maybe another action-rpg like darksiders 2 with cryengine will come out at some point.
