Nice intelligence @ quoting replies with huge pics in spoiler, forcing the browser to download every pic like 99999 times, Einstein whould be jealous.

    Hi.

I'm having problems with the SweetFX mod and Far Cry 3, I've pasted all the files into the /Bin directory, but on starting Far Cry 3 it's crashing and saying it's stopped working.

Any know problems this could be?

I'm running Windows 8 on latest 12.11 Beta ATi drivers.

    Cheers.

Oh, hey, CeeJay.dk, had another idea with Vibrance while I was working more on my Pathologic preset. A way to reverse the "intelligent" saturation, so saturated stuff gets saturated less, and the reverse.

And here's a new idea that may or may not be feasible.

Something which increases the DIFFERENCES between color choices -- so if you have two shades of blue, one slightly cyan and the other slightly lavender, it'll emphasize the differing components of the two colors, making them, at way past recommended settings of strength, COMPLETELY different colors. I'm not sure how easy this is to do, but if you have the ability to alter the image with HSL style controls, colors with near-identical H, S and L would be pushed away from each other on the hue spectrum. At a guess, this combined with a very light LumaSharpen could increase perceived detail a TON -- especially with application of dither, to make colors outside of the display device's color gamut seem visible. It might also improve bloom flares, by giving some variation to the colors thereof. It'd also, most likely, increase the clarity of things behind the bloom flares, which may be a good or bad thing -- I think it might offer very bloomy games some much needed depth. Either way, I'd like to see it.

As far as I could tell, that post you linked to was basically telling me to install the June 2010 Direct X redist, so I did that, but it's still crashing straight away :(

    Any other possible causes? :(

There a bit on the dark side but I think that the dark effect and whatever else you have done gives it a really cool cinematic feel. I wouldn't mind trying this config with AC:Rev or AC3.

    are you using dx9 or dx11 ?
because if you play farcry3 dx11 it will crash with sweetfx
so you can delete dxgi.dll and select dx9 in the config

willhub2012.....to make FC3 work you need to do a few things. These being, moving a couple files around in the directoy, run the game by executing the dx9 exe, and also you want to disable the uplay overlay from the settings page and make sure you play in offline mode.

    Now the files. In the Far Cry folder you want to copy and paste 6 files from the sweetfx bunch...these are;

    SweetFX (folder)
    d3d9.fx
    dxgi.fx
    SweetFX readme
    SweetFX_preset
    SweetFX_settings

    Then in the bin folder you want to place the remaining 3 files which are;

    d3d9.dll
    dxgi.dll
    injecter (configuration settings)

do this and it should work. It took reading through 108 pages of this thread to figure it out lol. I've managed to make this game so drop dead gorgeous using SweetFX...it's the best thing I've seen on the internet lol.

    All the best

I don't quite understand what you said but your present should work with both games. AC:Rev uses the same engine as brotherhood so it should look about the same but ac3 is kind of a new engine so it wouldn't look the same as your screenshots as the colors of anvil and anvil-next look different.

Did you unpack the entire archive prior to running the exe? (typically this step isn't necessary, but seems to be with W8).
This has worked for several other W8 users as well. Also, the steps Turbo recommends may help.

Rage is OpenGL game. All injectors works only under DirectX games :(

Drag an drop the contents of the zip/rar file into the same place as the Bf3.exe is located - C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3 ((x86) if your using a 64bit OS otherwise just Program Files).

READ: not sure if SweetFX is safe for online (Multiplayer) as it may get you banned, best to give it a google.

for bf3 the anticheat mostly use a injector dectection code for aimbot etc
and a screenshot detection to see if the image is ok , like if you don't tweak too much the colors or gamma
you get kicked for colors tweak , you can get ban on servers using additionnal anticheat who share ban list
most of time it's a temp ban like a week
perm ban are mostly from reports, but you get more chance getting ban from insulting than using injectors :p

Hence why I asked if there was a wrapper (OGL to DX9)

    No big deal though
