I recall there was a big mess with Visual C++ in my past adventures with Cats
Once ive downloaded the latest drivers, i just do this to remove the old ones :- http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx , before installing them.
- Express Uninstall all AMD drivers with CIM - Driver Fusion AMD drivers - CCleaner + CCEnhancer - Reboot - Re-run Driver Fusion on AMD drivers - Install New Drivers Works fine for me.
I normally use revo when i want to fully clean out video drivers any more, it does a safer more detailed job cleaning it out. I avoid driver sweeper like the plague, its broken so many systems people have brought me and my own a few times(once so bad even system restore didnt fix it) honestly, I will wait on trying the ati uninstal tool till its a bit more mature, really I rarely uninstall anymore, only when i find problems, for now im sticking to the 12.11b11 drivers, they have worked great on my 6870's and 7870's
I just run the Cleaner and Registry Cleaner (the registry cleaner finds a good bit of leftover entries from AMD/ATI). CCEnhancer also has an entry for AMD/ATI stuff (must be like cache related or something non-important):
