Well just reached the winter wilderness and now a bit disappointed. It turns out that sli causes problems with rendering the snow tessellation, which causes a near seizure inducing level of flickering. It was also sad to see that ambient occlusion no longer occurs outside; leaving the world looking a little bland.
Gamersgate unlocked the rest of the AC3 stuff, including Benedict Arnold which I thought was PS3 exclusive.
I see people complaing about dips from 60 fps but does it look good at least? Like, you are in a very crowded area graphically, is it stunning? If so, I don't see why you should complain... Of course, if it looks like crap, now you can complain.
Crowds aren't that big, buildings are more detailed this time though (No tessellation AFAIK.) and the view distance is increased, particularly with the higher settings. Main problem seems to be poor CPU utilization or so I've read, it mostly uses core0 with little to no activity on the others albeit there is some performance gain on multi-core CPU's so it must do something.
1.02 then? (Or just some Steam update to 1.01 maybe which would then be smaller than the first 80 MB 1.01 patch since it just downloads the modified data.) EDIT: Nope there's no patch that I can find. http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/ac3/AssassinsCreed3Updater1.01_WW.exe (That's the previous one.)
my fault, it's actually a 360 patch, someone posted on another forum. Disregard. I didn't even know there was a 1.01 patch though.
Should already be installed if you have the game, Ubisoft runs the auto patch utility first which downloads and installs any updates it finds so everyone who has the game should have gotten that update unless they cancelled the download manually. (Usually by comparing a entry in the Windows registry about what version the game currently is on.) And supposedly the two console patches are already part of the PC version, this is just a small fix albeit it does resolve some other stuff which it doesn't list in the changelog. Assassin's Creed® III v1.01 - Input related adjustments - Minor fixes related to Abstergo Store menu - Voice chat problem fixed - Fixed Keyboard layout related issues - Fixed Mouse navigation in Character Selection screen - Various small Uplay related fixes and improvements - Fixed situations when links in News and Additional Content menus do not work properly - News Feeds improvements - Improvements made to limited mode - Minor fixes in Single Player cinematic - Improved Notifications functionality
I found it looked very good until gameplay in the winter. While there are some nice tessellation effects for the snow; ambient occlusion disappears for no reason. Also, currently sli causes problems with snow rendering effects. Crowds do look amazing (mainly the opening opera house scene), but after entering America performance is odd, to say the least. The areas with performance problems are also a bit strange. The most demanding area of the game I have come across is Beacon Hill, which is nothing but grass and the geometry of the hill. Also there seems to be the occasional problem with Z culling in the city that causes some performance issues.
Thanks for posting this, much obliged! My only gripe now is having the "Skip" button always shown in cutscene, kills the immersion for me. Should be going away after a few seconds :/
Snow is some displacement (parallax?) effect, it's also present in the console version so it's not tessellation as far as I know.
Guys, i need some help with this game please. When i enter the game using the dedicated gpu from de 3750k the game runs fine, but when i configure it in virtu MVP to use the 660 ti i get a black screen when it starts the gameplay, any toughts? Thank you all
No there shouldn't be any. (Or at least it's not mentioned amongst the PC specific features.) EDIT: Actually it seems it is mentioned so I was wrong, would explain the unusually smooth NPC models. http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...Requirements?p=8704789&viewfull=1#post8704789 (Just that it's covered very briefly as "supported")
I also noticed that while watching some PC video footage; pissed me off. Is there no way to turn it off? I remember previous games had an option to turn off the HUD completely. I suppose I'll know tomorrow when I'll be able to play the game. :bang:
Hi guys how are you? So i`m with a big issue. I just entered in the ice part of the game and the ice is flickering a lot, a lot f artefacts too I turned off SLI and the flickering stopped Does anyone with the same issue, I`m wondering that it can be a VGA problem I`m using here SLI GTX 580 and the latest 310.61 beta driver And sorry for my poor English Thanks
Horrible frame rate in Boston! How can I get solid 60fps in crowded ship and 18fps on the harbor?! I do realize there are lots of NPCs but come on FUIUUUUUUUUUH
Hey dude.. same here. The gpu usage is very low in boston (around 50%) with all that crowd and details but when i exit to ''real world'' and in that cave it stick to 99% and fps i solid 60.. dunno maybe my cpu is too weak for the game. i can't oc with stock cooler
