my 560ti is dying (artifacts even while underclocked) so i'm looking for new card.. so i'm up for smthing from power of 560ti and up to about 300eur.. i'm kinda nvidia fan, but if ati have better cards in this range it's ok too..
You don't have warranty left on the 560 Ti? Asus cards should have 3 years For 300 eur, 7950 3GB is your best bet. Upgraded from Gigabyte 560 Ti SOC to Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X myself, it's very quiet and cool at stock clocks and a good deal faster, overclocks past 1GHz easily
don't overclock break warranty? mine have stock clocks at 900/2100 and i clocked it up to 1125/2200 @ 1.1v...
You can get the 670 or 7970 for around 300, or the 7950 for about 250.... Both ATI cards include over $150 worth of games free and they overclock well..... Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3 and a voucher for Medal of Honour.
You could consider selling the games you get with the 7950, or maybe keep them as christmas presents if you've family or friends that game - and frankly since there aren't any MMO's that support PhysX I'd probably do just that.
Maybe it died because of bad cooling or badly applied thermal paste and you can try to use warranty without mentioning the oc. If that does not work, just go with a new gtx 660 ti.
For the money the 7950 is the BEAST card ATM and you can always sell the Games or you could give them to me..... lol
Overclocking has to be warrantied, they sell it with the ability to overclock and tools to do it as well. They allow up to certain clocks and voltage. Its only if you modify the card or do something silly to it that the warranty is void. Contact Asus, tell them of the fault.
another vote goes for the hd 7950. make sure you get a nice one with a 3rd party cooler. they overclock very easily and really well with next to no effort. The added games are a bonus, like others said, if you don't like those particular titles, just sell them and use the money on whatever makes you happy, or give them to friends as xmas presents. Either way, you can't go wrong with a 7950 and that's the gpu of the moment in that sort of price range.
i don't know how or why, but i was using my card last few days on stock settings (except fan settings are still custom) and i tried playing game and everything was fine.. so i run burn in test in fur mark and even when i OCed it to 975/1950/2150@1.037v no artifacts.. i have no idea what was wrong.. also, 7950 i can get in my country from 315 to 350 eur (depends od brand/shop/..) so it might be a little expensive anyway going to do some more stress tests later and i hope i wont need to replace it (it have more than enough power for my needs) edit: here's pic from few days ago..
You can always take the fans out and bake it at 200ºC for 10 mins in the oven over an aluminium foil.
Its not guaranteed to work but it won't hurt trying. If it has warranty, just send it for replacement.
