Hi! I'm trying to make my own setup on sikkmod and it seems that i've found one problem with the parallax and pallarax with offset limit. I would use POM but it has a great perfomance hit and it also causes some texture bugs.... I assume it would be in the Defs folder within pak_modfiles.pk4? I replaced the Defs with the originals from the Quake 4 Base file. At first, the game crashed due to an error with the Napalm Gun ammo, so I swapped Sikkpin's ammo.def back in, which fixed the crash, but the machine gun will STILL not force upgrade to the 80 round clip. I looked over the ammo.def to see if there was anything that stood out, but I didn't see anything drastically different than the original ammo.def from the base folder. Your suggestion is definitely sending me in the right direction, but truth be told, this minor error is aggravating me because I can't for the life of me find the bugged code.
I would love this mod... if it didn't include the Trent Reznor sound pack. I keep forgetting he's made it a part of the pack. So, I load it up and jump in only to find myself annoyed at the absolutely terrible sounds of the pistol, machinegun and chaingun. The Imp also sounds awful...
I have a question for the expansion. What must I do to get the improved textures for ROE? If I install the textures for Doom 3, does that work for the expansion or is there a completely different method to get the expansion up to date?
Hey I have a question. How come with sikkmod the levels wont load in ROE? And yes I own the game (non Steam version) and has the latest patch.
These are some stupid questions, but here goes. What is the benefit of Wulfen vs Monoxead? Why install both and not just one? Do they include the high resolution monster skins, or must I download that separately?
RoE sik modfiles extra I've downloaded your pack but it's called pak_modfile.pk4 (doesn't mention ROE). Is thi a universal modfile that's supposed to work both with RoE and vanilla D3?
You can remove them manually, I know Pinky sound was just awful -_- so low quality like 22khz or lower.. Yep, the crash happens just as I go to load a level and then reverts back to the main menu. I'm using 'NiukNiuk' recompiled version.
But then why do people say to download both? If they use the same textures, what benefit does it provide? Why not just download the one texture pack and be done with it? Also, do these texture packs update the monster skins, or must one download a different mod for that?
^ What, im not sure if i understand now. The game uses base directory and then it also uses ROE directory for ROE levels.. Sikkmod ROE is sepperate then SIkkmod 1.2, well obivously If you look how i've set in on that picture above, its all there (HQ models, guns), except this part http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4385123&postcount=157 you will have to open Sikkmod ROE pak_modfiles.pk4 and add these HQ monster texutres in there.. I forgot this part before. ............ And wulfen texture V2.0 and monoxead texture is now in one pk4 file, which is also already included in niukniuk pack >>> located in Doom3 Base directory. http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4384296&postcount=155 then start ROE vanilla so it makes a cfg (set resolution, etc); now restart the game and start Sikkmod ROE again, looks like you dont have DoomConfig.cfg in sikkmod ROE directory.
I'm still working on fixing that Sikkmod Lite v1.2 for Quake 4 bug preventing the weapons from upgrading properly. If swapping out the .def files doesn't work, what else could it possibly even be?
Yep done all that, ROE starts and plays normally - but when I load the mod it just wont load the levels.
Try to compare the two files (the sikkmod .def files) with the original ones (found in one of the .pk4 files in the base folder), using Winmerge freeware, and see which values were modified.
I originally replaced every single .def file in the Sikkmod with the .defs from the base file. The game crashed because of an error with the napalm gun, so I swapped back in the ammo.def from Sikkmod, which prevented the game from crashing. The Machine Gun upgrade still didn't work properly at that point, but I didn't see anything in Sikk's ammo.def that would cause it.
I'm really sorry to start my first post here with a question. I've recently reinstalled Doom 3/Roe, the awesome Sikkmod/Wulfen/Monoxead packs and they're working very well. The graphics are unbelievable. I'm already very happy with it but how do you install the HQ textures to get a monster as detailed as the one below? I tried to follow BetA's instructions but I can't get it to work. I don't have an enhanced models pack to delete/remove, but I do have sikkpins highpoly models pk4 and I've downloaded the "models" package from the link in his post. Thanks a lot, Tj! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately it didn't work. First I made a back up of the mod_files pack, and then copied the downloaded "models" into it. When that didn't work I removed the mod_files and placed yours in SIkkmod instead. But the HQ textures didn't appear. I know your mod is working though, because the monsters now have shadows on them. (Which looks very nice) Your mod_files pack definitely works, but the game doesn't want to show the textures. (Or more likely I have done something wrong)
