What i find funny is that Doom 1 and Doom 2 in the BFG pack is actually different than the original ones and censored :3eyes: everything related to the SS & Wolfenstein in Doom2 MAP31 & MAP32 is replaced.

Probably required for it to be accepted on X-Box LIVE then.
(Thus the altering of those two secret levels, haven't played either of these Doom 1 and Doom 2 games much yet but the gore and stuff is there at least, unsure about the hell themed levels later on.)

You can set the original config file to "read only" after making your changes to it.

I don't think the package is a very bad deal...

    Doom 1
    Doom 2
    Doom 3
    Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil
    Lost Missions
    Price: 14£ (PC)

It could be better of course if we had an additional visual treat on the PC version.

Does it now support natively 1080p resolution at 16:9 ratio or you still have to set it yourself in the config file?

You'll have to scroll past a number of different refresh rates but yes it supported all aspect ratios and my own resolution of 1920x1200 just fine.
(Unsure about scaling, probably geared towards 16:9 but I could be wrong.)

That all depends on how much you pay for it, I got this for £14 (27NZD), which is less than half what a normal game costs these days.
It’s also less than buying the old games on Steam.

Saying that I too would have loved a remake of the first two games, would definitely pay full price for that.

It's not by Bethesda, it's by ID (which is nowadays owned by Bethesda though). And it's OpenGL, not DirectX (and what do you mean by Bethesda DirectX version? Makes no sense what so ever. Do you even really know what DirectX is?). The bumpmapping ain't fake and have you ever heard of OpenAL? Also you do know this game is originally from 2004 so of course the graphics are dated by today's standards and it's not nearly as good graphically as RAGE is (though I'm not a fan of the RAGE's megatexture tech at all). Read and learn a little about the stuff you write about before shouting out stupid nonsense.

The normal mapping they used in this game is still fairly impressive even if many thinks the game look fairly plastic or overly shiny, while the parallax and other methods introduced by mods are still very nice improvements upon this the basic normal-map when disabled makes the game look all different, it's thus in my opinion very impressive what depth detail they managed to get out of that technique compared to other titles at the time.
(The fat zombie for example is nearly flat.)

(For it's time the game also had very impressive shadows, shame they didn't bring soft-shadowing or such into this re-release but it still holds up OK.)

Its £19.99 on Steam! For what seems to be Doom 3 3D its not worth it...

I think soft shadows are a limitation of id tech 4 itself and how it handles dynamic lighting. I don't know if mods managed to do it though...

By the way what did the other guy mean by saying anti aliasing doesn't work??
Can't you force it through drivers if that was the case?

... or £12.77 from Amazon.co.uk and since it uses Steamworks anyway, it'll still be added to your Steam library. It makes no sense to me to pay Valve's prices as even if you don't like physical media, you can still install it from the disc (much quicker than downloading it anyway) and then chuck the disc away once it is registered on your Steam account.

I was actually looking forward to this release upon first hearing it. Now having hearing what its like I will skip it, I have original D3 and D3: RoE anyways.

So seeing as this game seems to be missing the Ultra quality texture setting and some shadows?, does that mean it looks worse than stock Doom 3 on max settings? Because that would be really stupid if you ask me

It should look identical aside from the artificial brightening of the game.
(It will look different compared to using mods though, shame they didn't take the chance and use higher quality assets.)

If you understand how to edit the config file of doom 3 to max settings in all areas it looks even better with just a few mins of config adjustments to the doom3.cfg file
