    Atmosphere.

Every time I go back to and old game, I instantly notice how due to a lack of graphics they had to build up atmosphere using smart techniques with colors, themes, ...

Same goes for old movies, where they're indeed very inferior to newer movies, they do have 10 times the atmosphere and build up which a lot of newer movies lack.

We're freaking out over here! It is so exciting to share this news with you!

You can now Download the Black Mesa Soundtrack, courtesy of our very own Joel Nielsen, at the very generous price of whatever you want! Enjoy and share!
In the near future you'll see our Website, Wiki and Forums all taken down temporarily for renovations.
On September 14th you will see the first release of Black Mesa! This will include our re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. We believe this is a great way to provide a complete-feeling 8-10 hour experience with a solid ending, make our fans happy and help us make the best overall game possible.

We are still working hard on Xen and BMDM, but instead of making you wait we are giving you Black Mesa as soon as it's ready! We're doing our best to help bring the immense vision of this project into reality, and we are very excited for what the future brings!

    High-Fives Yo,
    Carlos Montero - Project Leader

    12 days to go !

It's missing the last part, Xen. Which is, to me, the weakest part of Half-Life.
But, really, they are releasing it. And that is awesome. They could've released the first couple of chapters for all I care... and that would've been great.

Did anyone like the Xen planet bit? I'd stop playing it right before that part even if it was included.

I've finished Xen once. And ever since, I always stop playing once I finish Lambda Core.
Xen just wasn't fun... and the Nihilanth boss fight was even more not fun.

Well, the team are re-imagining Xen, the same way they have the rest of the game, although I suspect they'll be making it more enjoyable and less of a platforming exercise.

Really can't wait. This and Borderlands 2. My September is complete!

I don't honestly think they could do much with it, but fair play to them!

What's wrong with you guys not liking Zen? Ok it was strange when seeing it but when seeing it for the first time your like 'WTF' ?

I liked Zen for the very simple reason it was very different & strange looking.

Your basically all by yourself in the middle of nowhere... It makes me think what I'd do/think if I woke up one day in a place like Zen. Would make you freak out.

Several stages after, if not the next was called 'interloper' which was another great stage...

To be honest I loved ALL Half-Life stages from beginning to end...

Did you guys also notice that after the stage 'Forget About Freeman' you no longer see or fight any more humans? It's only alien...

Man Half-Life was so epic back in the day, the amount of times I've completed the game, over and over again...

The music was even badass, giving you the chills, nothing beats the original 1998 Half-Life apart from graphics/mods...

Nevertheless looking forward to the release of Black Mesa in this life or in the next...

Well... it's called Xen for one. Xen, not Zen.

Personally, I dislike Xen for the same reason I dislike the Citadel in Half-Life 2. It feels rushed, unfinished and kind of thrown together to end the game.
The platforming sucks, the level design feels incredibly random... and the overall design feels like a few very large steps back from the quality of the rest of the game.

Only to come to a final boss fight against the Nihilanth... that just isn't fun. It's a dull, tedious boss fight that is more chore then challenge.
