You're citing a 2 year old article from Charlie Douchebag? WTF? Have you even run a dedicated PhysX GPU? Granted the titles that use it are limited. And perhaps it's an excess expense for some. However, in titles that make extensive use of it such as the Batman series or Mafia II, you can realize a gain of well over 25% in frame rates. Let me know if you need screen shots.

Yeah! I didn't know they were going to support it but I'm glad to hear it! :D

I love the extra atmosphere PhysX provides in Arkham City. Not to mention the bit of fun I have just manipulating the fog with certain gadgets (explosive gel being my favorite) and Batman himself. Useful? No. Entertaining and awesome? Yes! :)

Thanks all for your input :) I like the extras I have gotten and the FPS boost as well. But I still have the problem with the 480 showing 1.1 x16 no matter which slot it's in. It even does it when it's the only card on the mobo altogether. Any ideas?

IIRC it had something to do with the X38 chipset but it shouldn't affect your fps.

It's impossible to have 2xGTX670 + 1xGTX260 as dedicated physix on Asus Sabertooth z77, isn't it? The third slot have no enough space for the extra graphic card. Or is there a solution for this? cable connector perhaps?

There are hardly an handful of Physx games titles out there. Most games use the CPU for physics bc they have their own physics engine like Dice with BF3 for example.
I do have one GTX 680, will have GTX 550 be enough for a dedicated physics cards? Or if it's not enough will it hurt performance? Games like Batman Arkham City will benefit.

There's a lot of PhysX games out there, just most are CPU based as well..

A 550 is great for a dedicated card, anything higher won't really show much of a difference.

I have an old 9800GTX+ card lying around would that work good for a dedicated physx card or would it cause my pci-e slot to revert to x8 and get rid of any gain?

Obvious placebo fanboy effect going on around here. I gave Physx* a fair shot but the fact remains it is hard to even notice and that's when it is even relevant in a game which is next to nil. Physx* does not increase performance like you guy's are trying to erroneously claim. In reality Physx* costs performance and the dedicated Physx* card is just a feeble attempt at trying to recoup the lost performance and yo be an nvidia fan boy. I run nvidia cards and currently use one but I am not blind to reality or a raging fan boy just because I bought a GPU that offered more value at the time and it just so happened to be green. Gives head a shake with palm on face.

It's fair to point out that the cost does not meet the means.

But you are forgetting two very important things.
    1. People with old/used NVidia cards (because of buying a new/better one)
    2. Enthusiast who don't care about the cost

And NVidia is banking off of those things heavily. Especially the first thing.

Even if few games use it, you didn't pay anything extra for it anyway. It gives extra intensive to make your next upgrade another NVidia card.

Not too sure about a 670 + 9800gtx, some people claim a performance, others a bottleneck, if I had to take a guess I'd say except for Mafia2 the performance will only be slightly better and not worthwhile to put in. It might be worth testing for fun :)

You might not like effects, good for you, most prefer to have more effects.
We're talking about dedicated cards vs non dedicated, and yes it does increase performance.
If you think you can run more content to render on screen and run realtime physics simulations without taking a performance hit then you clearly don't know anything at all about the topics at hand.
Calling people a fanboy for wanting more performance is just beyond stupid, especially on an enthusiast forum.

With more and more engines taking it on you can expect to see a lot more games in the future, as far as your PhysX is "dying" statement goes, it's far from it.
    Now go troll somewhere else.

Incase anyone is wondering why I replied as I did, this is a continuation of his nonsense from http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=367317

I mentioned the actual Physx* based games the others you mentioned are crap and not even worth the time or money or not a reality. Whats PPU "Parallel processing unit" Physx* ? So a whopping 25 Physx* based games and then you try and include a laundry list of games that do not use nvidia GPU based Physx*. Why is the list of GPU Physx* games so small and the list of CPU based physics games so large. Could the reason be why there are so few games 25 in total you listed that use GPU based Physx* is because SSE is far better than x87 for running in game Physics engines ?

Scam? A company does not do anything out of the kindness of their hearts. You do get what you pay for. And it works. And it's free. Hardly a scam.
And if it does not work the only thing that is hurt is NVidia.
It's unfair for you in the case to say NVidia marketing. It's company marketing. They are not a non-profit organization. There is money to be made here.
Sometimes that marketing can be harmful to the consumer, but not in this case.

They are actual PhysX based games, how can you not comprehend that?

Right, so all of the above games are by your words "not even worth the time or money or not a reality"
    That statement speaks for itself.
