ok, well, technically you could force the refresh rate to whatever you wanted..

Anyone try RP under Windows 8? Seems CAT 12.6 and 12.7 drivers work with W8 but CCC does not. Thought maybe RP could replace it until a working CCC is released.

    Isn't this the framerate limiter?

Yes and now. Vsync will force the computer to only render say 60 fps, but some people get input lag with vsync on, especially when their computer isn't powerful enough to maintain 60 fps.
The best way of course, is to have a fps cap, like Starcraft 2 has one built in, in which you don't use Vsync, but you can cap the FPS at anything you want.
Most Unreal 3 games have this feature too I think, as part of the engine.

i think you missed his point

does turning on vsync and sticking 59 in the Display refresh rate actually limit the frames to 59?

if so, its a limiter, if not its just plain vsync.

im at work, so i cant test

Just tried it. No matter what refresh rate I set fps don't go lower than 50 for some reason.

it does have an effect though?

really, 59 is all you need to avoid mouse lag

you want a limiter to be unlocked from the refresh... it's just vsync

imagine people on 120hz, if they cant have 120fps in a game, they can cap to 60 & things will be quite smooth

japamd, are you the main developer for RadeonPRO?

I have been using this tool for at least one or two years now. It is AMAZING! Since ATI Tray Tools does not really work flawlessly with Win7 x64 RadeonPRO is the program of choice for me!

It has so many options, all well documented, I just love it.

I was afraid .6 version would be the last one, I even started thinking about getting an NVIDIA card because of their better 3rd party tools but thank god I just randomly looked at the blog announcing something new!

If you are the dev behind this, thank you SO MUCH man!

    @Megagoth1702: yeah, I'm the developer. You're welcome! :)

@topic: this weekend I'll introduce a new feature with a fancy name which goes by the acronym DFC... can you guess what it is?

Also, thanks Valken and The Mac, I just got Sleeping Dogs but did not bought it... AMD kindly sent me a key to activate at Steam! I'm also working on a new benchmark tool that will be released under Adrenaline brand as other tools like Crysis 2, Codemasters Racing, Sniper Elite V2 and Alien vs Predator.

I hope AMD is talking to John! Everyone should tweet Catalyst maker to put more attention to community resources like John! There is next to no cost for them to do this and build up good relationships.

AMD should be paying him. It's thanks to him that this miserable video card experience has been a little more tolerable.
