im planning on building a new system sometime around oct/nov '12, 2500k based but i wont be able to get a new screen will still use the 22" 1680x1050 i have now so i am unsure as to whether it will be worth the upgrade over my 560Ti. thoughts?

Hmm.. So if the 660 Ti gets the 192-bit interface, then I'm thinking the 650 Ti (if there will be one) to be either the same at 192-bit or a 128-bit
this is great, if the price will be 300$, a custom cooler one from msi, asus, gigabyte etc will be around 320$, which allows you to OC the memory to 6 GHZ and kinda re-create the 670 GTX bandwidth, and since the only crippled part of this "670 GTX" is the 192 bit bus, THIS CARD WILL BE A BARGAIN!!!
I agree this card will be very tempting, gen3 mobos mostly support dual x8 pcie speeds, however gen3 makes it like gen2 x16 for each card, so yeah, a dual GPU setup runs better somewhat these days, ohh i need me a gen3 card! - or two.
I don't think this specs are true too. Yes it's possible to have 2GB on 192bit, but it's definitely not best combination in terms of cost/performance. using all CUDA cores is also something strange, they have all perfect chips? so no reason to disable some blocks?... strange. 660 should be much cheaper thank 670 to fit in segment, but from specs it looks like it will cost pretty much same as manufacturing 670. + It should use less power then 670.... by this specs i don't see how it's possible. 1152 CUDA cores, 192-bit memory bus and 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory, would make more sense....
It might seem like a stupid, but i'm tempted by this. A single 660ti might not be much, if any upgrade over the 570, but it will do the same job and be quieter, cooler and use less power, which will suite me as i'm 70/30 in favour of HTPC apps compared to gaming these days. Also, if i need more performance i'm sure i can aggressively overclock, or add another one at for SLI at a later date.
Why would you anyway? You already have a 28nm card, and one that more than likely will have similar performance.
I hope they release a non ti version, just like the 560's did, that's when you'll get a Sli bargain gaming pc.. When I got my non ti 560's it cost me $159 each card (AUD), the ti's were $80 ~ $120 more when I bought those. I was more then happy with what I have now for the price to performance with a non ti Sli. Once again I'll probably have to wait almost a year after they start selling them, just so I'm not paying stupid amounts of money..lol
