Man, that Gayle Bradley one actually looks pretty damn nice but way too much for a knife of that size. I also noticed that the Native comes in a variety of colors....did you get the pink one? :eyes: I kid, I kid
Aw yeah, I used to really get into knives (signs of a psychopath lol) and I used to practice throwing them as well. Not bull****ting, I actually used to practice throwing them. Not at anyone of cause. @hallryu: Is that one of those real cheapo knockoffs, or one of quality.
Gayle Bradley is nice, pretty heavy. STRONG steel so it's really nice. Holds it's edge. Generally my every day carry is the Sage 3 Titanium though. Beautiful knife. Razor sharp and light. Got the http://www.edgeproinc.com/Professional-Model-Edge-Pro-System-c2/ Edge Pro System to sharpen. Lots of grits. Moves up the range. Not my image but this is the kind of finish you can get on it if you want. Just a mirror finish, and so sharp it just pops the hairs off your arm.
^ Nice knives, yes, but how balanced are they? That too me is part of what defines a "quality" knife.
My Gayle Bradley is very nice. It is heavy though, also I sweat a lot and its not a stainless steel. My favorite so far is my Spyderco Para-military 2. How it feels, light yet sturdy, flat ground blade with nice pointy tip, compression lock. I got the orange cts-xhp exclusive, then I pre-ordered the upcoming green cts-204p exclusive as well.
That would be sweet but im not sure if I want to spend $350-450 on sharpening tools and then I have to learn how to use it lol. Im curious how much knife sharpening places around my part charge for a finish like that. I dont have enough knives to sharpen right now and even if I did, I will only be using 3 on a regular basis if that. But who knows, im sure if this turns out to be a big hobby, ill have one of those
I always had a pocket knife one me, unless I was working, in which case my Leatherman Wave was always on my belt (that thing paid for itself 10x over in the first year). For self defense though, I carry something better. A Taurus 617SS .357 Magnum --- built to win knife fights.
I'm sorry, but in my time of having an knife obsession, I have come to realize that nothing can beat the purity and feeling of unarmed combat. That sort of thing puts hairs on ya chest lol.
Not if the other guy has a knife, or machete or a gun....Unless you are some super badass, you are stupidly putting your life at risk for some hair on your chest haha. Ive been in a ton of fist fists when I was a bit younger and it was fun (i was an idiot like most when your 18-22ish) but when you are fighting for you life, its a whole different thing. I will never put my life on the line for sheer adrenaline. Or for anything. Not arguing with YOUR opinion, just sharing mine Realisticaly, I hope I NEVER have to use a knife or gun in self defense. I hope I will be smart enough to not put myself into that kind of position in the first place, but theres always a chance of something crazy happening.
I've heard that you can't be a knife person unless you own a Nepalese Ghurka or Khukri. I want one, but they are kinda huge.
Also any of the Filipino weaponry, dates back to the Legendary Warrior Lapu Lapu and the Battle of Mactan Island in 1521 where King Ferdinand Megellan Lost his life to the very skilled Filipinos,i regard the Filipino knife fighters as probably the finest in the world. My old instructor...Guro Krishna Godhania, officially the chief instructor for Warriors Escrima in the whole of Europe, hes also a very nice guy and a right hard bastard no matter what you put in his hands, especially a knife. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIlOWQvl-XY Grandmaster VICENTE "INTING" CARIN Last of a Dying Breed(A proper Knife fighting Legend who fought off 7 guys in a knife attack and almost died but killed one of them himself and injured others)He taught my old teacher Krishna Godhania. http://www.krishnagodhania.org/profiles/inting.html
I have a lot of Kershaw assisted open knives and a few Gerber's. Can't find one bad thing to say about Kershaw. Also, being in Washington, I can't carry an automatic around. So assisted is as good as its going to get...
