How do your settings differ from what Makan did because i followed those exactly and ceirtan files still crash.
Seems to mostly work now except when i try to resize the window or go full screen it crashes on me.

Figured it out, if you use opencl in SVP it crashes in ceirtan files.
Have to say i cant see the difference with it turned on or off.

Well personally I think the quality is better than anything else I have seen even with svp turned off.

Oh yeah the quality is great im glad i tried your guide :) the added fps definitely doesnt break any experience.
Do you know though if the opencl thing is needed? for what i read it just makes the GPU work more but im running a sandybridge @ 4.5ghz so i did not really notice any performance issues.

If im missing out on something though id troubleshoot more and see what the issue is.
SVP is still running for me just with opencl off.

Hi all, I'm one of SVP developers so I could try to help if you've some questions ;)
Prophet, thanks for the topic :)

    1. speed (it's like 1.5 times faster than CPU-only mode)
    2. bicubic interpolation mode is very useful with 21st and 23rd SVP-shaders
    3. all math is floating point so the intermediate objects positions can be more accurate sometimes => more smooth picture, but you really need some skills to be able to see it :)

    good for you
now try FHD stereo pair or 4k video :D

could you be more specific? what kind of files, which SVP settings you're using, which player/ ffdshow version?

99% of crashes in GPU mode on multi-core CPUs are due 32-bit memory limit so try to reduce number of processing threads

Seems to happen for the most part on 10bit .MKV files but some others i have seen it as well.
Was using all the settings according to this guide posted so Potplayer and ffdshow_rev4453_20120521.
Default SVP settings except for 2x framerate and strongest artifact masking.

How many processing threads would you recommend?

*edit trying out these threads... seems to crash at Auto, 14 and 13, at 12 it gives a unhandeld exception error and at 11 it works just fine.
Bit of a oddball number but ok, guess that fixed it thank you :)

And after that it works on Auto setting.... you sir are a life saver :)
Well maybe thats slighty over the top but i do enjoy my movie/series so yeah ... thanks a bunch!

*edit figured id try how high i can push it and it seems like 19 threads (not actually sure if that helps any but oh well)

Would you have any recommended settings in SVP for optimal quality?
CPU sitting at 30% load and GPU at 22%, must use more!

You think their would be an easier way to all of this thread wouldn't you? Just a button to click to say 'highest quality'

Yes. Or at least some way to automate it (.bat whatever).

yep, marked as "default" in profile settings ;)
if you want to burn your CPU - set "decrease grid step" to "by two with global refinement"

    ---
there're no "optimal quality" settings, "optimal" means something different for each one. some likes max smoothness, some hates any visual artifacts.

^ Some, including myself, thinks the smoothness in itself is one giant visual artifact if watching film. :puke2:

    @TruMutton_200Hz
I could add a "drop every other frame" option for you.
12 Hz is the best! :D

I don't watch 1080p movies but tried a few samples and they were all pushing the cpu load to 100per and it wasn't watchable with SVP of course :/

Is this the most my core i3 2100 can do or there's a work around ?

If you go to makans guide there is a version for 'normal' quality as opposed to the part I have quoted here which is 'high' quality.

Well... After your comment, I revised my opinion. I think you're right... This 60FPS motion should be really nice for Documentaries, though, wild animals etc :S I'll try again at 48FPS as the OP suggests.

Guys, is the Potplayer x64 inferior or problematic in relation to x86? Can I download the x64 version or better stay with x86?
