if it happens when you load the game, sttutering is normal while loading.

If it happens always, then no idea, caps as perosmct suggested.

Sounds like the game is running as normal in my opinion

I find whenever D3 needs to load something into memory, the FPS takes a header at mach 10. Otherwise it runs fine

the game is not yet optimized and many people are sharing this same issue on the D3 forums. It will be a fix on blizzards end to repair this problem.

    1. Wait for the next driver/Game patch
    2. Pray
    3. ???
    4. Profit (or get disappointed, chances with AMD are 50/50)

You're not helping at all, peros. You always pretend to have a perfect performance in any game. If so, great for you. But posting all over the forums how perfectly fine everything works for you without going into detail or actually trying to say something constructive will not help the guy asking for advice.

AMEN. With PC's there are sooooo many hardware variations it is actually, many times, very hard to make everything run smoothly without lots of tweaking.
Saying 'my system runs fine' is of little use.

Well Step 1 of my very helpful post just completed, download the new 12.x driver in the stickies. Its an early beta of the 9.00 branch, so you can expect something from it!

See if this new driver fixes your issues, otherwise continue with Step 2 of my post.

    tl;dr

have a 6990m as well, running D3 with the first 12.6 betas and have no stuttering. Try fix your framerate in the options to "65 fps" foreground and background

edit: here is my D3Prefs.txt (located in your documents e.g. E:\Calibrations\Documents\Diablo III\D3Prefs.txt)

I have a 6990M as well and I also experience the FPS drops. I have looked deeply into this and the only conclusion I could come to is that, like stated above, the engine is not fully optimized.

Have you checked CPU usage to see if its erratic when playing D3?

did the ones affected by the problem check their temperatures to make sure the GPUs and/or CPUs aren't overheating & throttling ??? (Since its laptops we are talking about)
