Well I currently have a GTX 560 and thinking about another card What do your august personages think i should pair it with. Terp
I agree that SLI is good and a 560 is a valid option... what about 570 or similar now that prices are dropping
no that wont work, with your cpu I dont recommend sli anyways. the cpu is too weak to properly use it anyway. best stick to 1 card
ahhh, I was looking at an 1100T before I got this but they were sold out the next day I was rather unhappy.
Yep to Sli 560. I run Sli 560 (Non Ti) in my HTPC witn 3570k cpu and all I can say is "damn great bang for buck when on a tight budget at current day prices". For $318 (AUD) for 2x non ti 560's that out performs a single GTX 570/580, providing the game works with Sli, what's not to like. If I was going to spend the $400+ (AUD) I would have got a single GTX 670 for $479.
At this point, why not try to sell off your 560 and get a 670? If that's not possible then get a second 560.
An FX CPU will limit you but I don't think it is going to cripple you as bad as they suggest. CPUs are benchmarked on these websites at very low resolutions. Look at Guru3D review of 8120 for instance: http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-fx-8150--8120-6100-and-4100-performance-review/10 Games aren't great for testing CPUs.. You see there it has a hit in Far Cry 2 very CPU limited game sure and the Intel is ahead... but then look at Crysis 2 benchmarks at a res you would actually play at.. the difference between it and 2600k at 1080p is a whopping 2 FPS. Again..that is only one scenario but it is what you would expect to see with a GPU limited game. SLI does put more stress on CPU but I think 8120 is still ok for you SLI 560s should be good.. just watch how much AF and features you use because you are limited to 1GB VRAM.. but I bet you will be happy with performance.
This thread is about sli with an fx yet you produce a bench with a single card. http://www.guru3d.com/article/evga-geforce-gtx-690-review/11 here's an fx with 1 690
Sell the 560 and buy a 660 rumored to be released in a few weeks, or a 670 if you can't wait. I don't recommend 560 SLI... 300W of power consumption, and corresponding noise and heat levels, for similar performance as a single GTX670 that consumes 150W. Meh. You will have to overclock a lot if you want to remove the CPU bottleneck. Well, CPU heavy games will still be limited by the FX8120, its per-core performance just leaves a lot to be desired. But in most games it will not bottleneck.
Well the cheapest way to almost x2 your frames in fps type games is sli, that is if you can find one used cheap$150 -$180. but if you can sell yours for about the same i would chough up 2 bills for a 670 or 7950 and be done with it.
