Why wouldnt u just save 100dollars basically and get the same performance? I would if I didnt buy a 680.
Glad I held off on the 680. It's not really worth it now. My 670 will be here Monday. Sold my 5870 for $150
It's not the same performance as the 680 dammit! It has a whole cluster of SM disabled plus slower clock than the 680. Also, that short PCB just makes me think mid-end rather than high-end.
Have you guys touched GTX680's pcb under load? That short PCB will definitely take its toll in the GTX670 if you overclock it just to match GTX680's clocks or performance. Don't think that NVidia is that stupid. The card will probably brake down right after the warranty expires. IMO, the best way to go with GTX670 are the non-reference cards long pcb. But you still need to pay for a premium.
If the Fermi cards survived, then the short pcb 670's will be fine. Don't think anyone said they were identical performance, but the results are so close that it makes you wonder if they 25% higher price-tag is worth it.
Well GTX 670 can get hot and only 4 PWM takes a toll.. Check this thermal image http://www.hardware.fr/articles/866-4/releves-thermographie-infrarouge.html And looks like ~1320mhz is the MAX OC (with turbo) - custom Gigabyte windforce 3x.
i think i'll wait untill an xmas sale. by then i *might* need to upgrade ... and 670 SLi looks like the ticket! very impressive. but for now theres no game in my library i can't max out ... tempting though
Yes, definitely at stock, but the post was directed to those who will overclock the card just to be a GTX680 clone. We still can't predict how the card will turn out after being exposed longer at that high temps.
