I just downloaded and installed the new beta drivers from nVidia (301.24) yesterday. After following this [http://www.overclock.net/t/1150443/how-to-remove-your-nvidia-gpu-drivers] un-installation procedure (for removing 296.10 WHQL), I proceeded to install the new betas. After setting up nVidia Surround everything seemed fine (taskbar centered and windows automatically maximized to one monitor). However, when I tried to open Sony Vegas Pro 11, it just crashed on the splash screen and just hung there ('updating plug-in cache'). Then, I got a message saying "Sony Vegas has stopped working" and I had to kill the process. I found that very strange so I tried again, but same result. I then tried to open Photoshop CS5 and that opened fine but when I closed the program, it said "Photoshop has stopped working". I have never had issues with these programs before and they worked great on 296.10. What was even more strange was that I was listening to some music on iTunes and when I closed that, it too said "iTunes has stopped working". The same thing happened to Cinema 4D; opened for a few seconds and then crashed (Cinema 4D has stopped working). Premier Pro CS5 also crashes on the splash screen! I narrowed it down to some setting in Surround. When I reverted to single display mode (with either "Disable SLI" or "Maximize 3D Performance"), all the programs worked fine and there wasn't a single crash. Some pictures of the crash: Details of the Sony Vegas Crash: Premier Pro CS5: Details of the Premier Pro CS5 crash: I figured it was something to do with the drivers so please help me! Is someone else having these problems? I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling three times to no avail. I also tried reverting to 296.10 and now even THAT driver in Surround gives me the same issue! Something must have gone wrong with the install of the beta! :bang: I really need to work on some projects with those programs and it is vital I be able to use them. Please help! My cards are EVGA GTX-580 Classified 3GB in 4-Way SLI. Motherboard is ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer.
Try the good 'ol Device Manager approach. Delete all of your cards (and device software checkbox is marked as well) from the Device Manager, restart and install the beta's again. They are called beta's for a reason. So you should expect this.
I tried reinstalling them several times to no avail as I already stated in the OP. Plus, I also tried going back to 296.10 WHQL and those drivers are giving me the same issues. So, something is definitely screwed up with the install of these POS beta drivers. Everything works fine in single display mode so it's the Surround thing that's causing those programs to crash.
Did you uninstall, run a driver cleaner before installing and 'Perform a Clean Installation' when installing the driver?
Yes, I've done this several times now. I used CC Cleaner, Driver Sweeper to remove the unnecessary files to uninstall the previous version and then installed the new version to no avail! This is so frustrating I can't figure out what's wrong! Now, even if I install the previous driver (296.10), I get the same problem in Surround! This is just incredibly annoying. Please help!
Did you do the above clean install and then only put the 296.10 driver on? (ie dont let the system see the newer driver after the cleanup)
I'm not sure what you mean by that? (in bold) I uninstalled the beta, ran Driver Sweeper, and only then did I try to install the new driver (296.10). In between there were several reboots (normal with driver installs/uninstalls). Both the beta and the WHQL are giving me this problem.
