Since I updated to 12.1 WHQL drivers my 6950 makes a very annoying squeezing sound, like coil whine. I never had this problem with the 11.11 WHQL drivers which I used since I got this card (2,5 months ago).

Can someone enlighten me if the 12.2 preview has the same issue?

I don't have any issues like always...

and you know what, I'm going to post this every time a WHQL is released.

This driver made my card run mutch cooler
it went from 80dgr to 75 dgr on load in BF3
The game feels mutch smoother too

PS.. Thanks for all the help your guys give in this forum

This driver causes my system to hang on shutdown.
    Went back to old driver.

Yes i did all the usually time consuming troubleshooting. Even had to do a restore with Acronis to get my machine working again correctly.

Will wait to see what the March driver WHQL brings.

Aside from the problems I had, BF3 raw good with these drivers. The only problem was hanging on shutdown or restarts.

Just wanted to say this driver works just fine with my setup.
Updated from 11.12 whql, which ran also ok, to this new whql'd 12.1.

    1) if they both say that, then yes its underclocking
    2) install msi afterburner, and 3dmark11
    3) test both drivers at the same clocks and compare benches
    4) if the new driver has significantly lower performance, then wait for amd to fix the 6700 problem

as long as performance is fine, dont worry about the underclocking, because you can always overclock to make up for it
