say if you got a couple bad infractions, can you "paypal" one or two away?

Also just have to keep a feel out for how the mod's day has been going, cause periodically they go small town sheriff on a power trip, so it's best to just avoid posting for a day or so.

A lot of great info here, I see from dcx that there is a 'point system' an that there is an expiry.

Is it worthwhile asking for an explanation on those two points?

People get more butthurt over them than they get butthurt over temp bans. Which is funny as infractions have very little consequence.

its a great system for phpbb as well as vbulletin, and props to the mods as always for being on top of these situations. I think this would be the end of this dscussion tbh, MR Hallryu has spoken..

I can see this is a heavily modded system, excellent work to whomever did it

yes no matter the skin the infractions bit being a tab or link will only appear if the infraction is in place for the user. Its built in to the MOD. Hell might even be built into phpbb and vbulletin software these days, all these forums are getting mad upgrades, really good stuff. Even if you dont see it user side.

Prob with these upgrades is if you have lots of MODS or custom scripts in place the upgrades can kill em if your not savvy, guru3d is very very savvy with everything so bet your top dollar that they know how to keep impeccable banning scripts and other such stuff going well.

You have to have so many in so short a time, even we're shocked when it happens.

I just took a quick look at the Forum Rules,

    Quote:

"By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.",

could be rather broadly interpreted, depending on one's sense of morality.

However, I find this forum to fairly average, even a little lax, compared to some.

That is probably why I like it here...

I can't say about much other moderators but personally, I'm quite lax, I've only banned a spammer and someone who was obviously trolling. Other than that, unless something major happens, I don't take action. My view is that this forum expects a level of maturity where admins and moderators don't need to hold your hands and tell you what you can and cannot do.

If this forum is for a bunch of kids like the Disney Channel web forums or what not, then ya, we have to go down heavy on every little scuffle but since this isn't one, we expect that members know how to regulate themselves for the most part.

Forum software, especially the popular ones like Invision Power Board, VBulletin, MyBB, phpBB, Simple Machines Foum (SMF), XMB Forum and lots more are designed to be highly modular so you can write your own plug-ins and extend its functionality to the forum operator's liking. I'm sure Hilbert and the admin team added various add-ons that aren't found in the vanilla installation of VBulletin. Personally, I haven't admined a VBulletin board since the mid-2000s so most likely many things have changed since.
