I have the option to upgrade to a 46 inch Sony Bravia LED 3D 2011hz TV but i am skeptical about graphics though. I run a NVIDIA GTX EVGA 570 HD , I play FPs (BF3), SWTOR and so on, is it really worth upgrading. The TV is on sale for 1K right now which imo is a steal. any sugestions would be appreciated:nerd:
You must be out of your mind. Those Sony TV's have 100+ms input lag. The Samsungs in "game mode" or whatever have like 28-32, which is still useless for gaming. The lowest I've seen for a TV is probably 16-24ish milliseconds for LG IPS TV's. Panasonic plasmas usually have a relatively low amount. I think my 42inch plasma has around 18-24ms.
Sony tv's aren't what they used to be. That's why I stick with Samsung now. Plan on getting a new one for living room in a month or 2 and bringing the current tv to the bedroom. That way I can get rid of the crappy tv in my bedroom, lol.
That's odd, I've tested my Sony Bravia in game mode several times and it is consistently at 16ms which is fine unless you're a super duper uber elite FPS god. I'd like to see where you got '100+ ms input lag' as being the standard for all Sonys.
46" seems too big, if your sitting right in front of the monitor, around 37" seems to be a sweet spot? 1080 doesn't look so good the closer and bigger you get. For a main TV and PC game on the side I say go for it. But tried some FPS' on a 50" and wasn't a good experience with a wireless keyboard/mouse.
That's true. Your viewing distance is important. There is a formula around somewhere for estimating the idea viewing distance based on screen size and resolution. I'm about 6' away from my 40" Bravia and that is pretty close to ideal for me.
if you have a bestbuy nearby just go and stand infront of the tv at the distance u would normally be in your hoome. and get the idea.
I have a 47" HDTV hooked up to my computer and have input lag even in game mode which is really frustrating. There's no input lag on my consoles though (or when I use a controller on my PC). Curious. Wish I could fix it somehow.... So that would be something to be aware of.
running a panasonic IPS panel for a year and a half now here for my PC. response time is 6ms grey to grey, or around 15ms black to black. it hasnt stopped me from pwning in fps games. LG IPS panels are pretty good too. throw a few of the borderless IPS panels together and youve got some epic eyefinity action!
0.01s bad but yes 0.001ms. lol I tested Plasma TV 42" TX-PF42G30 and I got "judder" 50 or 60 Hz (without 600Hz sub-frame) despite 0.001ms but I enabled 600Hz sub-frame and I can reduce (much but not remove) judder for 50Hz only but unfortunately 600Hz sub-frame doesn't support 60Hz. Therefore, plasma 0.001ms fails being to close equal to any CRT but plasma needs be harder flicker to close to CRT for almost remove judder.
Your the one that made me buy my Panasonic IPS panel... I've had it around 5-6 months, VERY happy with it for both picture viewing, watching movies & gaming...
How do you enable the 600HZ sub frame. No 60HZ, why? Super confused on this, I could always tell something was off. It looks better than my PC monitor for movies & videos and shows and all that, but I felt like there was something 'off' which I couldn't place. Maybe that's it?
:stewpid: Very happy with mine. I was going to go with a 37" as well, but the 42" was only $50 more. Sure, it's a little large/close for extended sessions, but lately I've been kicked back on a recliner playing Skyrim with a controller anyway. Still, I think my whole setup is headed for the living room soon. I built my mother an HTPC last year, with one of these: Great to be able to kick back on the couch with a coffee/beer and surf...
I played PS3 and I got judder at 1080p@60Hz because I can't enable 600Hz sub-frame despite 600Hz option available but I tried to 576p@50 Hz and I got a bit judder due to 600Hz enabled.
Low DPI? Compared to gaming at SD resolution? My 40" Bravia is crystal clear at 1920x1080 at 6'. Preferable to me versus sitting a foot away from a 23" screen at the same resolution.
Regardless, i can still see a slight screen door effect sitting 6ft from my panasonic veira plasma 50in in the living room... i hate huge pixels. i much prefer a good 27in 2560x1440 ips than a hdtv any day.
