Worth going from LG 23.5" LCD to a ASUS/SAMSUNG 27" LED for games?

I have to say, a 27" IPS LED screen @ 2560x1440 is totally sweet and also for gaming, I often set the resolution to 1920x(for the obvious reason) and it still looks gorgeous(seeing how the pixel density is still very high)

If you can get your hands on a 27" 2560x1440 screen for not too expensive I'd say "Go for it!"

(Also LED = Awesome, you can not imagine the image quality/colour difference between normal LCD and LED LCD.

I own the 32'' Panasonic Vierra IPS LED panel, everytime I look at the screen it brings a smile to my face, the colours, black & whites, contrast, ahhhhhh.....

Doesn't that look terrible? I remember Playing DA:O on my 1080p 24 inch monitor at 720p before I got the GTX470 and it was pretty ugly. Its after I played DA: the Awakening on full 1080p that I realized how much I had missed by playing 720p on a 1080p screen. I know this wasn't an issue on the now extinct CRTs. How much of a quality loss do u observe when doing 1080p on a 1440p screen?

Well you obviously do have a loss of quality, colours look a bit more bland(just a bit) and if you sit close to the screen you see jaggies but nothing that annoyed me thusfar(And I am a quality freak)

Also I use this 27" IPS LED screen as a screen for my PS3 which will only run @ 720p since Apple only allows "Target display mode" for 1440p or 720p and not 1080p.

(Target display mode is where you can use your Imac 27" as external screen for other devices such as a PC, Console, laptop)

720p looks just fine when you sit a few meters away from it, if you get closer you do see the pixels, but you get the exact same thing when you game with a console on a big TV @ 1080p.

These 27" IPS LED screens @ 2560x are just so marvelous that even at lower resolutions you see the blacks being blacks, the contrast being very high and the colours being natural.

To the OP, have fun with your new screen! Samsung is always a nice option!

Thanks. So far I really like it. I started up SWTOR last night and thought...."wow". Not "wow" the game either....

Anyway, I had to mess around with the colors and contast and whatnot but whe I was done it looked pretty awesome.

I will say this though...with a monitor this large I have to play with aa running because you do see a lot more jaggies.

I noticed it more in BF3 because I don't play with AA on.

What do you guys think of the Dell u2412 LED Ultrasharp? I've been thinking about picking one up, since I've always wanted an Ultrasharp and I want an LED panel.
