    Here goes:

    Currently running:

P5W DH deluxe( i975x chipset, native Crossfire support)
    Q6600@3.0Ghz
    6 gig corsair Ram DDR2
    GTX 295
    X-Fi XtremeMusic
OCZ 700W PSU (untill i get an new one)(before an Enermax galaxy 1000w)
Problem occured also with the old PSU.

This rigg has run 2900XT CF as well as 4870CF, and for a brief moment the current GTX295 along with the 9500GT mentioned.

    Problem:

Want to install a second vidcard (NV G100 Oem product from a dell(?) machine) to be able to use 3 monitors.
So far, no luck getting the card to be recognised by device manager.
Card is firmly inserted in secondary PCI-E slot, fan is spinning.

    Tried so far:

Fiddel in bios settings (AMI BIOS v2801), no settings to enabel/disable the PCI-E slot.
A few settings I don't understand, could these matter?:

Boot Graphic Adapter Priority: [PCI Express/ PCI]
    PEG Buffer Length: [AUTO]
    Link Latency: [AUTO]
    PEG Root Control: [AUTO]
    PEG Link Mode: [AUTO]
    Slot Power: [AUTO]

Option 1 already changed, no change.

Boot up with only the G100 inserted into second slot, results in no image shown on monitor when attached to card.
Simply a black screen, not the msg "check cable".
Tried my wife's 9500GT, no luck there either, card not found, no image when running solely on this card.
Uninstalled current XP driver (258.58) en reinstalled, no luck.

G100 was tested 2months age in my wife's rigg, card worked fine.

Has the secondary PCI-E slot died while being inactive or...does something needs to be enabled/disabled in the BIOS?
If needed, I'll make a list of the options in the BIOS that can be changed.

Hope someone can help, been fiddling for over 2 months now.

Did you try it on the second slot or the first?
Sorry if I don't quite get it, since you previously said you tried the G100 card alone on the second slot, and didn't state clearly on where you plugged your wife's card when it too didn't work.

Well, if you haven't tried plugging it on the first slot, then you wouldn't know whether the second slot would only work with a CF configuration or not.
Or, try plugging the GTX295 on the second slot and see whether that runs fine or not.

Both slots used to work, check initial post for this.
I tried to run the GTX295 along with the 9500GT in the past, this worked perfect.

Well, yeah, the keyword here is 'used', which is a past tense.
Trying it now wouldn't hurt and you've got nothing to lose anyway, aside from time.

It's just that it's better to make sure it's not a hardware-related problem.
After that, then the 'only' problem left would be BIOS setting.

Did as suggested, tried only the GTX295 in the second(black) slot, no image at al when booting up.
So non of the three card gives image in the second slot, not even with a vidcard installed in the orange one.

    So...slot busted or BIOS problem?

Preliminary diagnosis would be a busted slot, though you might want to check whether there's an updated BIOS for that motherboard or not.

As far as the BIOS settings you've posted in your first post, there's nothing wrong with it.
In any case, it's probably better if you could list the available choices for each of the settings aside from Auto.
That way other users could also figure out something to help you out.

Yo, sorry for not replying back; been quite busy before the weekend starts.
Have you tried setting the slot power higher for the PEG?

Tried that, amongst other things, no luck, guess the slot is history.

I'm gonna bury my dreams of triple-screen gaming and awake those of building my own casemod.

Well, if you haven't changed anything since the last time it worked, then that might probably be the case. =/

then try cleaning the problematic slot with a brush so it wont have any dust left inside just take care not to brush the rest of the board because you might knock off some SMDs light brushing won't affect them but i don't know how brutal you are.
Oh and you can try cleaning the connector on the card just in case with a little alcohol but be sure it is dry before you put it in
