Google maps has become so laggy and slow its untrue, i used to be track my location with ease when out walking if i turned the map turned in realtime, now omg its so bad its near;y unusable. ive tried it on my old wildfire S which used to be really good and its the same on that as well. How does it run on your phones ?
google made some big updates to some maps... to improve quality. have not tested yet, so hard to say is it good or bad.
Totally smooth on my Sony Ericsson Elm, running their OS with GPS. Totally smooth on my HP Touchpad running android (although no GPS)
Smooth here on my Nexus S. Stock Android 2.3.6 ROM, no root, no nothing, completely vanilla stock. deltatux
used it today while stuck in a random freeway jam. worked perfect like usual. evo 4g rooted with stock rom
Google map lags a little on slower phone.... I'm using on my lg optimus one (stock) which has the same Arm V6 processor as in wildfire s ... I have the latest version of google map installed (v6.01) and it's performance is pretty much same as earlier version.... I agree when turning map lags a bit but definately not a major annoyance ..... Check and see if any other application is hogging your cpu in the background which may be causing the slowdown .... Go the SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE>BATTERY USE ... and see if any application is using more battery than normal (usually if any app is using your cpu in the background its battery usage will be high)
running a galaxy note here. smooth animations, even on the high res display. was also pretty smooth on my old galaxy note.
Hmmmm strange, it used to be perfect on the Wildfire S no lag what so ever, there was an update this morning for google maps on my Galaxy S Plus but its still laggy. ill update it on my GF wildfire S and try it.
The version numbers vary by platform, and can vary even on the same platform depending on the OS version or hardware.
