    Hi,

First, i'm sorry for my bad english. I don't know where i must post this topic, sorry if it is not the better place.

I upgraded my computer this summer, since that moment I'm Having problems when I play some games.
A thing is weird, I mean, under 60fps (58fps as an exemple) the game is not fluid and I have micro-stuttering. Over this frequency, no problem, it is perfect.

Before this upgrade, it was always fluid, even when I my computer was running by 40fps.

    My previous setup was : Asus P5Q + Pentium E5400 @ 4.1Ghz + 4Go of RAM + AMD HD 4870, and psu was a Corsair VX 450W.
Now I have an ASRock P67 Pro 3 + 2500K @ 4.7 Ghz + 8Go RAM, Card an PSU are still the same.

In order to solve the problem by myself, I decided to buy an HD 6950.
That way, I tought to be able to reach at least the 60fps, needed as I explained just before, in most games.
But I consider to buy new games in a near future, and I fear these gales will require better Graphic cards, what makes me think, I will again face same problems.

    Without Overclocking, the problem stays.

My opinion is that the problem is due to display frequency, but how to check this, and how to solve it ?

    Thank you for any Idea.

    ( Edit: correction )

    Try a different driver.

    I have already tested with differents drivers ( 11.2, 11.4, 11.8, 11.9, 11.10, 11.11 ) it's the same :(

I think it's your PSU... The VX450 is rated at 33A, and you need at the very least 30A for an HD6950 (and that's without overclocking).

Not at all, in games, power consumption is always under 320 watts, with a watt-meter, PSU is largely ample ;)

If I had a problem with the PSU, I would have problems all the time, not just when i'm under 60 fps

Alright... Here are my suggestions then:

    - Perform a BIOS update if yours isn't up-to-date;
    - Turn off any funky option you have enabled in CCC;

Plus, which games display that weird stuttering? Do all games do it or just some of them?
Oh, and you're using an adaptor for that graphics card, right?

    Yes, it's already done
No, i never touch anything in CCC
In all games ( DiRT 2 and 3, Test drive unlimited 2, NFS Shift ... )
Yes, i use an adaptator DVI / VGA, but i already used it before. I can test on my TV with HDMI.

    Bye

450w is still kinda low for 2500k and 6950.. from stock to 4.7ghz cpu is about +50w

what about thinking into that when on 60fps game don't use gpu on 100% so power consumption is lower?

    http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
dunno how accurate this is.. but try to downclock cpu and (if oced) gpu to stock, just to see if reason is in there..

you can also try p95 to stress cpu and furmark to gpu.. first one, then other, if both runs OK try them both at once to use max power..

i'm just thinking, i'm not expert on this..

I think your PSU is kinda low for that rig,....

Anyway that aside try disabling vsync, you said it only happens below 60fps so disabling vsync may help....

Yeah, sounds like vsync is on and you're going under 60, hitting 30.

Triple buffering would help too, in case you want to keep vsync.

You dont have seen my precedent post, I said in games, power consumption dont exceed 320W at electrical outlet, about 260W on PSU. I repeat, 450W is largely enough.
Its the same without Vsync, and GPU is used at 100%.

I already tested without OC, for CPU and GPU, same problem
I run both for 1 hour, no problem.
Without Vsync, i have tearing :(

Good idea, i gonna test this now

    Thanks for help guys ;)

what if your psu is damaged and can't get more than those 320w thrue?

I tested with LinX + OCCT GPU, i obtained 635W at electrical outlet, considering efficiency, about 520W on PSU, no problem.
I tested to enable Triple Buffering in Catalyst control center, nothing has changed :(

first thing first. Don't assume thats it always hardware. Try turning off windows aero and run the game. Lets us know if same problem

which games is this happening in? are you monitoring your vram usage when this happens?

Whoa. Thats like 115% of PSU load and you say "no problem" ? wtf

Id say, look up the Vsync and triple buffering in CCC. Try messing up with them to see what happens.

And get a new PSU, even if you dont have problems now, you're bound to have issues eventually ( "eventually" as in "sooner than later" ).

    Hi,

I have tested, no change :(
    No change either
In all games, i have tested with DiRT 2 and 3, and Test Drive Unlimited 2, NFS Shift 1 and 2. VRAM is around 700 - 800mb.
It's just a few minutes in her life, and it's a proof that it works well.
I already test to enable Triple buffering in CCC as Scheherazade told me. But Vsync is disable in CCC but enable in games settings. I gonna test to force Vsync in CCC and disable in games.
I also tested to desinstall CCC for just graphic driver, but no change

    Bye
