Guys I have been researching this for about a week now and can't find an answer. I wonder if a Pentium D 935 @ 5ghz would be comparable to a Phenom 920? I know a Pentium D at stock clocks gets beat by an E6600 and the E6600 is about equal to the 920 but I cant find anything with any info on how the Pentium D compares when it is highly overclocked. I mean at 5ghz would it be about equal or no?

Pentium D cannot be compared to even low clock Dual core. Even if its overclocked.

Pentium D is dual core... I'm asking for someone knowledgeable with intel over the years to compare netburst to c2d when the netburst cpu is clocked to twice or more the clock speed.

You can work it out from this Dual Core comparison chart.
It shows the speed of Conroe, Athlon x2 and Pentium D to get the same performance.

Mufflore, I'm not sure I'm reading this right, it is saying a PD @4.1 is equal to an X2 at 2.8? Is this correct? Thank you for this info also! Exactly the info I was asking for!

Thanks Mufflore, I knew that lol. Just wondered if I could get a nice clock on it, where it would compare and that chart gives me a good idea. Thanks man!

I've seen them run 8+ghz on LN2 so I'm thinking I could get 6ish on water.

Dont forget to dual power the PSU and use a backup generator ;)

my 1.86GHZ core 2 duo, is absolutely wrecking my 3.6GHZ Pentium D..

    mainly in gaming.

I'm running this PD now at stock 3.2 and the only game it really struggles with is Black Ops, plays MW3 just fine.

My real question was, can I clock this PD high enough to beat this 920 and Mufflore's chart say's yes.... If I can get it fast enough...

PD is PD, it con't be a beat/equal to 2/4 cores performence, even it oc to 5ghz ..

netburst has simply reached it's own potential,

no matter what CPU design, or clock speed. it's simply to slow to keep up with core 2 and upwards.

3.5 or 7GHZ.. it wont matter.. netburst has reached it's limit. it was to heavily dependant on clock speed. but it skilled IPC and wide pipelines..
so narrow pipelines combined with low IPC = clock speed irrelevent.

I find it really funny that some people don't realize PD IS 2 CORES...

Well I'm @ 3.858 at a mere 1.184v taking things slow but I'm sure 4.0+ will be no trouble. Temps are 36 idle and 42 under full load. I will post back tomorrow after I bump up the fsb a little more.
