Ok, so I set my Pc to 720p and took a screen shot, somewhat similar to one I saw on one of's gamespot.com ps3 screenshot of skyrim. Here are the two shots.

The details of PC have been tweaked as per geforce.com's guide to skyrim ini tweaks. ie. tree, rock self shadow, fov to 95, larger grids loaded. Im using fxaa with 8x msaa and 16x af. The file was further compressed to the exact gamespot file size.

From the looks of it one can conclude Skyrim graphics were drawn for 8 year old hardware. I can imagine 10x more detail if the game was actually designed for the PC.

the blur is caused by the FXAA, you can also use mods to increase the texture quality.
within 2 weeks there were already more than 1.000 mods on skyrimnexus.

I'm depressed. Crytek ditched me with crysis 2 and now bethesda.

you can also make it look 100x better by turning down the brightness in game. or by using fxaa injector mod

The upper one is from PS3 ?

Lol just look the difference on the texture..

without saying, the bigger differences are surely on effect ( snow, particule, wind, etc etc )

Ok I used the injector with preset 1. It looks like someone used lightroom on every frame. I liked it. Thanks.

I played the 360 version at a friends house a few days ago and all I can say is that I'm glad I've got a good pc to play it on.
The frame rate is 30 ish in all areas, much longer loading times, very low res textures in places and a bit of screen tearing here and there.
The pc version will only get better and better looking when all the mods start kicking in.

Yeah and I can imagine it 100x better looking if it were designed in CryEngine 3 with SR-3 Quad SLI systems in mind

Yeah... no thanks. I rather play the game on my relatively cheap system.
Skyrim looks gorgeous, you people are just being nitpicky.

PC version still looks a lot better.

Of course, there are no games that look as good as they could actually look on PC. PC Hardware is multiple times faster than console HW, but GFX don't look multiple times better. And it won't. We all know why.

Anyway, if you're not satisfied with Skyrim GFX, search for Skyrim Megamods. These are compilations of mods. They contain a lot of new textures, models and much more cool stuff! :)

    The PC or console?
You can't possibly be serious that it looks the same as some game released in 2006. Do you even remember any game that had the same scale as Skyrim and looked as good as Skyrim? Or even close to that? :p

    Oblivion.

Skyrim looks like a mod for Oblivion. Every review site has said that; they feel like they're playing a mod for Oblivion.

    So yeah.

Pretty much. It's not that big of an upgrade of Oblivion graphics wise. The gap will be much larger with Skyrim and ES6.

**** reviews, Skyrim looks a lot better than Oblivion did.
Artwork is miles better in Skyrim, Skyrim has full scene dynamic shadows, Skyrim has everything done better (except maybe UI :p)

So which current day game with the scale of Skyrim looks better than Skyrim?

    Edit: Oblivion:
