new mobo won't oc, fix it

after finally come back from Iraq and retired from the damn army
I can relax and put back together my rig that build in the desert
but unfortunately I fry the gene II mobo and asus are a bitch to get rma
they rejected for a scratch and send it back with the 1366 socket pins bent wtf:wanker:
so evga classified x58 it is now ,but is kicking my ass to oc
    cant get a descent oc
with a 920 do I used to get 4.52 ghz just by raising the blk ,not 100% stable but not bsof ,past vatage and cinebench
but now in evga no mather what i put can go beyond 3.6ghz and very unstable
this board supposed to be more advanced?wtf:biggun:
    a little help please :)

    fix it

You could hit 4.52Ghz without touching voltages? That seems a little hard to believe unless the board automatically did that for you.

Seems with the eVGA boards, you either get a gem....or a steaming pile of dung....

But, if you want to exceed 3.6ghz, you'll have to raise the vcore.....there's no alternative.

I`m pushing 4.1Ghz from my 965 without touching the voltage

Left it on Auto and it bumped it up itself to less than I would have set it to, and it has been completely stable since

You didn't raise it manually....instead, the board raised it. The OP seems to be implying that he managed 4.2ghz on stock voltage.

He doesnt mention voltages, I just assumed he meant he only raised BLK as opposed to raising the multi or something else

    :)

I think thats the problem though, his old board more than likely auto raised the voltages

This new one might not be so good at that, or maybe it is set manually

    @Lord_Farken,

The eVGA board probably requires more manual tuning.

    Here is a BIOS template.

Fill in your specs and copy/paste in this thread.

From what I've read, eVGA boards aren't particularly friendly to those who are unfamiliar with overclocking.

well yea it did with the gene II and good 920 do the co won't pass 4ghz ,but it don't matter just need someone that have experience with classified 3 bios, every combination that used to work in the old mobo don't work in this one
just little push and crash wtf

uppsy sorry it been more than year since i put that 920 do
i did but there was the profile of the old 920 co already

true , im not a oc expert just good at hardware
at the moment just try raising the cpu v 1.4 to 1.6 range and the blk
and keep the memory less that 17k

I really wouldn't put more than 1.45v across the CPU for everyday use, 1.6v is high and will probably kill your CPU fairly quickly, not to mention keeping it cool would be difficult.

    fwiw for 4.2GHz on a D0 I am using:

    CPU multi: 21
    BCLK: 200
    RAM: 1600
    VCORE: 1.375v
    QPI VTT: 1.315v
    CPU PLL: 1.88v
    VDDQ: 1.66v

Nehalem CPUs must be overclocked via the multiplier and not the BCLK, raising the BCLK will get you nowhere as it is tied to everything else, hope that helps.

With the Classified board you will probably also have to set all the multipliers manually for QPI, memory etc.

the one in the right was the asus mobo don't know why future mark replaced my hardware of the old scores with the evga
Got it oc stable 4.4ghz, more that enough
dit some extreme research ,and find the right setting for that mobo know
stil thanks ,your setting give me hopes ,it did give me a starting point

    My 955 does 4.2Ghz @ 1.35v, which is below stock volts...guess I'm lucky.

    Got screenshots to prove it...:)

that's very good ,mine needs more but is h2o so who cares
regardless ,i see a RMA coming ,one physical drive disappear already ,and won't boot ,with the profile that got me 4.520ghz
4.20 stable is massive power ,but got to be absolute stable or games will stale
do you play dirt 3 pc and the steering feel ATROCIOUS

this board and my do 920 was simple after i found using eleet in windows was better then bios for raising baseclock pass 210ish.i just needed more pcie 110+
heres a screen of eleet with the chip @-55c
    [IMG]

i have a low volt chip so it getting baseclock was easy after i set pci-e to 110+.
    try this
EVGA VDroop Control ( Without VDroop )
    CPU VCore ( 1.30ish )
CPU VTT Voltage ( +120ish ) try less firs then more for stablity if you need
CPU PLL VCore ( Auto )
**IOH PLL VCore ( Auto )
    DIMM Voltage ( 1.64 )
    QPI PLL VCore (1.30ish)
    IOH VCore ( 1.30ish)
    IOH/ICH I/O Voltage ( Auto )
**VTT PWM Frequency ( Auto) try less
**CPU Impedance ( Auto ) try less
**QPI Signal Compensation ( Auto ) try less
    ICH VCore ( Auto )

    QPI Frequency Selection ( 4.800 GT/s )

thats what i remember off the top of my head

btw. I just read back my post from the other day and it sounds like I was smoking crack. What i meant about overclocking with the multi instead of the BCLK, is don't bother trying a high BCLK and lower multiplier (it's not the same as FSB vs multiplier), but leave the multi on the maximum setting from the start.

I must stop posting when tired...

Not really its just ok was on dice cooling the chip dont like high volts so its great on air.

I offered, but why not go to the eVGA forums?
