No, I don't think I've ever even been there more than a few times.

Thanks dude but i've already used these improvements, but however when i'm in front of a candel or light source i get stuttering...

I'm getting low FPS when closing in into a village, but after 3-5 seconds or so it's back at steady 60. Like it takes a while to load some game parts. Same happens in Whiterun.

They are working on a big patch. Personaly i can see thru the issues because it's too good of a game to bother with bugs.

and you can try this cfg i made, fixed shadows and good perf. even on my old q9450 (60fps almost all the time)

use all settings from both skyrim.ini and skyrimpref.ini; add/change your reso and gpu in it..

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4164543&postcount=7

just dont touch other shadow settings (except by those that i mentioned the difference) or you might that that shadow shimmer in the distance.

Just applied those settings, but it makes the game run worse than before :S Getting low FPS even outside villages.

    I run 4x MSAA and 2x Supersample in 1680 x 1050. V-Sync on because i HATE screen tearing.

maybe because of uGridsToLoad=9, default is 5 and even 7 can take a big hit.. I mentioned this in skyrim.ini

When i said i got 60fps almost all the time, i was still at uGridsToLoad=5

use the rest but change uGridsToLoad=5 or 7.

Btw at 7 or 9 makes a huge diff. compared to default 5.
    http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.ph...-comparisons-and-explanation-default-57911/cv

i didnt try with 9 yet thought, but i bet i'll have to lower to 7 or even 5 too.

    btw: and this is important

Well girds to load= 9 takes a big hit for me i get avg 40-60fps, usually ~ 45-50fps outside.. Vs grids to load=7 mostly 60fps with few dips to 57-58fps..

I've updated and added some extra strings in both ini files, it should be even better now :D

shadows are still not the best looking - but better that then having this bilinear like shimmer line infornt of you while you move outside (esp. on distant rocks).

In nvcpl Skyrim profile i use AO MW1 -Quality, TrAA- 2xSS, enhance to 4xAA (ingame 2xaa), 16xAF, threaded opt.- on, 0 frames to render ahead, power- max perf., H.quality texture filter.

and FXaa by some dude; sharpen (1.7, define sharpen 0.05); Shader AA parameter (0.70, 0.123, 0.0433)

It wont, that's up to nVidia. But it will fix performance issues in the game itself, that's what they said.

I've got a 4ghz i7 in my rig but I'm able to max everything except Shadows (which are high) and regular AA which is 0 (that includes maxing all view distances). The regular AA is garbage anyways, I find it much nicer looking to leave on FSAA and leave AA at 0.

Anyways I'm running all that in addition to some high res texture packs, postprocessing effect mods, and forced MSAA 2x while not really dipping under 50-55 and thats only in some of the weird angles in town that seem to give FPS dips to most people. The MSAA and Post Processing gave a bit of a FPS hit, before that I never dropped under 60.

Thats also with a 460 and the latest beta drivers. If you can't quite pull it with that you should look at using the "High" settings with 16AF, 0AA, FSAA, Reflect Sky, and Decals bumped to Ultra as a starting point.

If anyone is really having unusual out of places dips or issues they should look into one of the d3d9.dll patches available such as:
    http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=123
which is a modified dll designed to fix a bunch of issues with the game's graphical engine.

I was getting this last night dipping down to low 30s in an area which looked less instense than the centre of Riverwood which i get constant 60.

I'm thinking SLI isn't kicking in but looking at my cards in use they both go to 100% and then sometimes they drop to 19% so I dunno :S

Using all ultra with sliders to max and 2x AA and AF and NVCP got it at 4x enhance all

Drop Shadows down a notch or two as they are rendered by the CPU and cause a significant performance hit where they are lots of them.

As others have said, the problem is CPU not GPU. I have very few drops below 60fps with 2500k @ 4.5GHz. Where I do, it's normally when there are lots of objects on screen. The object fade slider seems to cause the biggest cpu hit (out of all sliders). I have this one on ten and max out the others. When I do get drops, I see cpu spiking way up.

Shadow ultra also hits cpu quite hard (so I use high).

My GPU usage is generally 40-80% (depending on where I am).

At any given point in time (when playing a game), your computer is either cpu limited, gpu limited or vsync limited (if enabled). Most of the time I'm vsync limited but I'm cpu limited in some areas of lots of objects and then gpu limited in a few stupid places like staring at the right wall in a cave (both gpus go to 99%, WTF??).

So your GPUs running at 40% with no tweaks means you are CPU bound (at that point) if you have vsync enabled and < 60 fps. I'm hoping they improve cpu use and/or take advantage of more cores in the next patch.

I have an off topic question..im reinstalling skyrim. My question is, can my save files be copied paste back when i reinstall, with no problems? I mean, ive done my fare share of tweaks and mods, ih ope it doesnt ruin anything when i use the same save file on a clean virgin vanilla skyrim..
