70c is a bit hot, at load it should be around 60c..

What's your case cooling like? Do u have the non ref cooler with 6 heatpipes and dual fans..?

Maybe it would be a good idea to check numbers (the way art1fex did)on some other cards and then compare it whether the BIOS flick trick works for only a specific batch of cards or is it truly random.

I'll post my numbers as well tomorrow, but we could also check a few details from GPU-Z that might be different: Release Date, Device ID and Subvendor. So I propose that along with the numbers from the cards we also include a screenshot of GPU-Z, but only from one of the cards if the stats reported by GPU-Z are the same(in order to not waste space in posts and to cut down on useless information. Also bus interface doesn't count as a difference)

After we finally know which serial numbered cards can be unlocked by the flick trick the OP should just add the information to his post for random Googlers' convenience.

Also 6950 and 6970 are Cayman only, Antilles cards are 6990

^GPU-Z only displays the info from the bios which prob won't be very helpful as this changes with every bios version...

I think the P/N could have some relevance tho, as it's specific to the board.

    Mine is
    299-1E186-220SA

    113-1E18620-S44
    11188-05-50G

    Shader locked.

Ah didn't knew that. I thought that info is stored separately. I also decided I won't be lazy and checked my cards.

Shaders unlocked - flick trick works

Currently running my 6950 unlocked at 880/1350 with 1.175v.

Is 900-925/1350 at 1.175v something excessive or it's in the normality for this card?

Don't want to waste an evening testing the card :p

    At 1.115?
That's really nice! Might try to lower my voltage then...

    @ Pill Monster

Is your card unlocked or not (i thought not) i am kinda confused about it.
If yes how did you do it, since there is no way i can get mine unlocked.....

The reason why i am asking is because i do have the exact same problem as you did discribe in one of the first posts of this thread.

Hey..YMMV...see how you go...if you get vertical lines then bump up the volts a little. :)

No mate the shaders are not unlocked, I have tried every single method but no luck.
My card is overclocked though to 880/1350. :)

ahh ok i see... so it seems to be.. bad luck is not only happening to me (all the time).

Last question.. did you overclock it through that Sapphire tool.. or .. did you create your own *Custom* bios ?

    Thx for straight answer

My case cooling should be very good. I have 2 120mm fans on the top, one in the back as an exhaust, one in the front as an intake, and intake on the side and an 80mm exhaust on the back of my CPU tray.

I do have the dual fans. Today while playing Skyrim it was getting up into the 72 C range and load was at 98%

What temps are you getting at idle and under full load?

    Idle @ 1.175v = 42C
    Idle @ 1.1v = 40C
    Idle @ 0.9v = 37C

    Load @ 1.175v = 56-62C
    Load @ 1.1v = 54-60C

I monitored this (with Trixx gadget in Win7 64-bit) while playing Skyrim and BF3 for extended periods (3+ hours).

I'm using MSI AB for the overclock, and Trixx to bump up the voltage.

I have also used flashed bios in the past tho.. :)

Tech Power Up has a collection of 6959/70 bios .

Hrmmm mine is exactly the same only about 10 degrees hotter. I'm also using Trixx. It stays around 69-72 during extended Skyrim sessions. I'm not sure what else to do, it still get almost that hot when I lower the voltage to 1.12.:puke2:

RBE already shows 6970 shader count selected when I flip the bios switch but GPUz still shows 1408 shaders. I'm kind of ticked off I bought this card because my wife's 5850 outperforms it @ stock!

    Hi,

I also have the same problem.
When I switch it, RBE says already 6970 shaders unlock.

    In GPU-z I see 1408.

So I do not really understand how to unlock it.
I will try to modify the first bios and see.

If you guys have some answer to that..

    Thanks
