Along with monster appetite for wattage.
But also with monster(-ish) performance; the scaling is definitely right there.

Unlike that other processor which...well, you know. :p

Same here, though I think I'll wait until IB launches, not only can we compare better, but by that time (arround spring 2012) chances are that there will be more lga2011 cpus out, or at least newer steppings. :)

    Thanks for the reviews Hilbert!

I don't understand some of the stuff said in the reviews , as I'm still trying to learn this stuff. But I was actually pretty amazed how well the Z68/2600K setup compared performance wise against this new SB-E setup. The performance gap was pretty minimal from what I saw on the graphs. All in all , I'm impressed with the SB-E performance , but not for the amount of money you would have to spend to get it. Seems like a quite a bit more money for minimal performance gain. I'm sure with newer boards , bios updates , patches and so forth , the new SB-E will start proving their worth.....but right now , I don't really see it. Not compared to the regular SB.

Also.....and since I don't see that big of a gap between the older SB and the newer SB-E....I wonder what we will see in the performance of the Ivy B cpu's coming out this next spring/summer? Am I missing something here? Are the Ivy's supposed to be able to out perform these new SB-E chips? Because the gap isn't all that big.

I dunno.....I'm sticking with my 2600K build I'm going to do , and then wait and see what the IVY chips bring.

    Great review as always, Hilbert.

No.. this is enthusiast class and IB will be mainstream with only 4 cores from the look of things so this is going to be the better cpu.

Tch. I know gaming performance isn't that much difference from a Core i5 2500K, but I still wants one.

IB-E will exist too, if you checked those game benchmarks I7 2600K beat it 1-2 times..

And IB has better tweaks then both i7 SB, SB-E together.. yea they're both missing them; like 2x FPU perf., improved single threaded executions, removed some internal registry limitations, improved HT and some other stuff. I bet mainstream i7 IB will kick this SB-E ass especially in games.:nerd:

Anyone knows if there will be a 6 core IB or IB-E for our dear 1155?

IB and IB-E (confirmed? when?) will not use the same platform so you need to make clear you were talking about IB-E and I try not to judge cpu performance based only on games, we have gpu's for that.
